As I progress through week 6 of recovering from Da Vinci Prostatectomy I wanted to thank you all for your support ! This forum has gotten me through the initial shock of diagnosis, issues with my catheter, and encouraged me through recovery ! Yesterday, I decided to follow my surgeon and radiologist guidance to proceed with Adjuvant Radiation. Again, I found myself here; reading and learning ! Thank you all for such a wealth of excellent knowledge and experiences !

To the other newbie's like me, hang in there ! Read a lot as it really helps ! I once read here, that in some ways it gets easier after the biopsy, for me that was certainly true !

Jim, guys who participate here on the HW forum are always glad to learn that they've in some way helped someone like you find his way through the maze of prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Congratulations to you for monitoring your PSA level and finding that Gleason 9 cancer early.  Here's hoping the adjuvant radiation will do the trick and kill off any cancer cells that may have escaped via that positive margin.  Let us know how it goes.

Jim, We are all in the same boat, those who came before me helped me out and now it is our turn to help those who follow. I'm wishing you the best going forward and hope to hear back that your PSA is a fat zero.

Glad you came aboard when you did. Being a DaVinci guy also, I hope you are Healing Well and I wish you the best of luck with Round 2 in October.

Have you had a PSA reading since your surgery?

hi Purgatory.. thanks so much for your support !

i'm set up for PSA reading on Sept 30.. which is about 8 weeks after surgery... I then lined up my Adjuvant RT to start about 10/7... so that I'd have my first post-op PSA after surgery (as a baseline) , but before I go into Radiation Therapy due to my high risk of recurrence .. given my gleason 9, one margin being positive, and a strong family history... and most of all my age of 54.. I thought it best to take this head on and go with Adjuvant RT. I'm 54 and an athlete by desire... I thought I should hit this hard up front...rather then the wait and see approach... any and all feedback is welcome !!!
