ED meds preserve penile length after RP

In a small prospective controlled trial out of Memorial Sloan Kettering, men who consistently took PDE5 inhibitors (i.e., Viagra, Cialis or Levitra) did not lose penile length as of 6 months post-RP, while the men who did not regularly take them lost 4.4±6.6 mm in stretched penile length (it's a surrogate measure for erectile length), on the average. Size loss was also correlated with ED. This study underscores the importance of consistent penile rehab after RP.

Fairwind -- sorry you did not have success, but many men do recover their sexual function after surgery. I believe that penile rehab beginning right after surgery (even before surgery) is crucial and increases the likelihood of success.

I was treated by Mulhall and his protocol called for 25mg of Viagra daily, 2 weeks before surgery, and continuing after surgery. Once the catheter came out, 100mg was used once or twice a week, in the attempt to get an erection (daily 25mg continued on the other days of the week). Six weeks after surgery, if erections were not happening or not sufficient enough – Trimix injections were started in place of the 100mg Viagra (daily 25mg continued on the other days).

I’m happy to report that 27 months post surgery, that I do not require any pharmaceutical help. I hope this give some of you encouragement. Hang in there; don’t give up hope.

Oh, and I've not noticed any change in length.

Guess my penis never read that study because it is definitely shorter although I take my 5mg of Cialis daily. Uro even gave me some 20 mg samples but they must have been placebos as nothing could bring it out of its six months slumber.  But I am still trying!
