Husband has scrotal swelling and itching. Ideas?

Husband has noticed swelling of scrotal sac for the last 5 days (I saw it 4 days ago). Both sides evenly puffy, no pain, but every now and then during this new symptom he's had some off and on itchiness. No problem urinating, had an orgasm 2 days ago (ED still) and that felt the same. Any idea what is going on?

Not unusual for the swelling and itchiness. They moved and bumped those little things around quite a bit during surgery.

Sure feels good to scratch them a little too.

Just mention it to the doctor on his post surgery follow up if they are still puffy. My guess they will ok by then.

Ty, Good Life. He's a few years post surgery, and I've not used this forum in a very long time. Life has moved on. This is a new symptom and we hope it did not mean a return to those difficult days. I think he will have to get into a urologist if he does not return to his "normal". Right now, I had him take an ibuprofen and ice it.

Best to get to the Uro soon - I'd call first thing in the morning (or call the on-call doc if it doesn't get better). Could be an infection or allergy reaction or something. Not likely related to the surgery.

Ice and ibuprofen sound like a good thing till you see the doc. Is he taking any ED meds? If so check the side effects (not that I've heard of that one).

I'll bet there's a simple explanation.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Is he having any leakage ?

I periodically get a fungal infection that I use over the counter stuff to relief.

He just left for his PCP's office. Ice and ibu "seemed" to bring a slight improvement last night. Worse this morning, spreading into the penis and beginning to be uncomfortable. No leakage noticed, no new drug. Took half a Viagra on Wed., just a half hearted attempt to see if there would be any response. Skin there has an alligator like texture as well. Does a fungal infection cause such edema Goodlife?

Contact dermatitis, maybe? New kind of soap in the house? I very much doubt it is related to his Viagra. Let us know what his doctor says.

Just got back from the pcp. Diagnosis is epididymytis, for which the doc prescribed a course of doxycycline and prednisone. I made sure he was given an EKG, since 2 yrs. ago he had a mild coronary, and either heart disease or diabetes can cause the edema too. I'm uneasy about the diagnosis since it seems pain frequently accompanies the condition, and he has none, just an occasional itchiness. A red rash showed up on the upper, inner legs, just noticed when he was checked by the doc, and it showed up under his armpits. Peter, no new detergent etc. has been used, but I am grateful for the suggestion. Apparently, it can be a condition after some prostatectomies, much later down the road from original surgery. A urinalysis showed no UTI. Still uneasy...but thank you to those who tried to provide an answer.
