HDR Braco tomorrow - recovery question

updated stats


Nov 2008 - PSA 3.75 - no symptoms & Biopsy clear
July 2008 - PSA 4.00 - no symptoms
Sept 2012 - PSA 6.40 - no symptoms
April 2013 - PSA 6.94 - no symptoms except maybe tired more
Biopsy - Cancer found in 6/8 cores
Diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer - Age 52
T2A, Gleason 5+3=8
CT and Bone Scan are clear

June 2013/14 HT started (only Hot flashes and some panic attack at the start, no libido but no ED )
Sept 11 2013 HDR Brachytherapy (great recovery)
Sept 17 2013 EBRT (23 days - 5 to go)
Oct 21st 2013 End of Treatment

Does anyone know what the next step is: how do they test to see if Cancer is gone and when will I know?

Hmmm....I'll let some other experts here explain in more detail, but in my case I was referred to my family Dr and he was to do PSA testing every six months for the next 5 years and forward all the results to my URO and and ONCO's. As long as my PSA readings stayed below 0, I'm suppose to be good to go. What did your ONCO have to day?

Canuck, thanks for the updates, had my HDR on 9/19 and I start my IGRT 10/15 so I'm right behind you. Good luck.
Only issue I have from the HDR is some urgency and frequency that I think is somewhat my fault because of my coffee drinking.

Yup Steven, coffee can irriated the bladder.. I changed to tea and much better

Noticed this with LDR brachy - the urgency thing. Feels like a burn sort of. Goes down when I cut back but man I am hooked on coffee. I am about 7 months out from being seeded.
