"Hi,
My husband had a 12 core biopsy at Sloan Kettering in NY by Dr. Coleman. He had local anesthesia and very heavy bleeding afterwards - so much so - that on the way home on the train he went through the pad they gave him and his pants. I think they should have told us that this could have happened. By the next day it was less blood - it took about 6 weeks for the blood to disappear.
He said the biopsy was 'very uncomfortable.'

Husband diagnosed at age 61 (current age) Aug 2013 from biopsy
No findings on DRE
Gleason 3+3 in 3 cores, 20% 10% and 6%
PSA 2.8, FREE PSA 7 (which prompted biopsy)
3 cores positive with 1 high PNI on both sides of prostate
Waiting for results from MRI to see if Active Surveillance is an option."
