Logo, I believe there are several studies showing that, even with negative margins, EPE (stage pT3) has a significantly higher risk of recurrence vs. organ confined (stage pT2) with negative margins.
I imagine that may be because the cells in a lesion exhibiting EPE are more likely to be invasive / aggressive compared to cells in an organ confined lesions (some of which may never be capable of EPE).
