Over the last two days much has happened and we have a set of dates and a plan in place to zap my nasty nodes.
I will leave FL on Monday December 2nd for LA. Before I go I will have blood work done at MDA in Orlando and send them the results. This is just to cut down on work that would have to be done out there. I need Creatinine levels monitored before the C11 Acetate scans. Also I will do the PSA test (to establish a new baseline) before the zapping. This one should be interesting. I have not had a test since October 2012 and that test was 36.
Tuesday the 3rd I will have a C11 Acetate Scan at 10am. This will be followed by a CT Simulation Scan at 2pm.
Wednesday and Thursday will be reviewing the results of the scans and mapping out my treatment.
I could have my first treatment on Friday, but I think more likely it will be Monday. There will be 5 SBRT zaps done over 5 days.
If all goes according to plan, I will fly back home on Saturday December 14th.
Possibly I could have made a flight on Friday the 13th, but with everything I have experienced with this Pca crap journey, I ain't taking that on too.
Out of pocket looks to be about
$5500 to $6000. My medical out of pocket is maxed for the year, so all things medical will be covered except the C11 scan. The normal cost is $3100+, but there is a discount if I just write a check. It will be $2400.
The other costs will be 12 nights of hotel stay, car rental, airfare and food. Seems like a small price to pay if it can allow me to keep my current QoL for a few years before I have to resort to the drugs.
I will have plenty of down time out there and I plan on spending that with my son. He moved from NYC to LA at the end of August and has been getting set up out there with apartment, work, finding an agent and so on. It will be good to see him again. Our last visit was Christmas last year.
I feel really good about
this now that the plan is in place. I know that this may not seem the most often traveled road with a rising PSA like I have, but this route seems to work for me and my mental makeup, in my effort to enjoy a great QoL for as long as I can.

Even though there is only a seat or two on your plane going West, we're all travelling with you...be safe, kick some PC butt, and have a great time while you've out there...

OK, Sonny, don't go all Hollywood on us. We need you back in Florida in mid-Dec.
As they used to say in Hollywood, love it when a plan comes together.

Mel, Jerry, Jim and Mike, thanks guys. This thing has certainly come together quickly. If it hadn't been for the Thanksgiving holiday, I would have been on the plane tomorrow. But I also have a lot to do in the next two weeks here at home.
Biggest project going on right now is getting the pool and entertainment area finished for Christmas and more importantly for the GFMPH FL gathering in March 2014.

MauiViv, thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately the Tiverton is full. I was able to get into the UCLA Guest House for just a little more and they have Queen bed, microwave and frig.
I appreciate your thinking about
me.

A very well thought out game plan, Sonny. Hoping this will take care of the remaining PC buggers for you, then perhaps you will never have to think about
it again. If you choose to post it, would love to see your current PSA. Trying to see if we are accelerating approximately the same rate during a given period of time.
Good luck ahead, on this most special of trips.

Sonny - next time I need a big medical thing planned, can I call you for help? You got a great plan there.
Sounds like it's got a good chance to work.
