Hubby went for his PSA today- AND he agreed to ask them to check to see if he had a UTI or kidney stones. I had posted on Sunday that I was worried- he was having left flank/back/abdominal pain and low grade fever, but he absolutely refused to go to ER or even call doctor. Well...... he has a severe kidney infection. They are going to have to culture it- they were afraid to give him anything to start because it is so bad, and they want to give the right antibiotic. He's had so many rounds of antibiotics due to UTI/bladder infections with his bladder neck problems. Last time he was on cipro, he started having itching, etc. I told him he might be developing an allergy to it and to be sure to tell the doc. SO... we have to wait on the culture- could take a week. He's to call if his symptoms worsen (high fever, worse pain, etc. ) Not the best Christmas present. And we probably won't hear about the PSA until next week, either.... oh well......  I am definitely not qualified to give any advice on your post just wanted to let you know I read it and I'll say a prayer for you and your husband. Hang in there hopefully 2014 will be much better for you both.

That is not the news you wanted. Infections can be tough. I hope they can find the right antibiotic fast.

I can understand their caution but that has to be frustrating for you and hubby to deal with.

Here's hoping a better gift comes along and know that you are on my prayer list.

Ugh... what a terrible string of luck.

You're both in my thoughts and prayers. I hope they get the infection resolved quickly, and I hope the PSA test comes out well for you.

And I hope you have a nice Christmas despite all this.

At least you know what the problem is, and that once the specific bug is identified through culture, it should be able to be treated effectively with antibiotics. You haven't won the war yet, but you've identified the enemy. Stay strong, and we'll be thinking of you.

Very sad to read of this. Feel bad for him, and for you. Pray his health returns quickly from this episode, the PSA can wait till he gets better.

Sorry about the kidney issues. I've had kidney stones in the past and the pain was excruciating. I hope whatever the problem is can be resolved with the right medication.
