Dave, sorry to hear that was so unpleasant. Man....
Someone correct me if I have this wrong, but Firmagon is an LHRH antagonist, causing a quick drop in testosterone production by the testes. Lupron is an LHRH agonist, working in a different way with a slower drop (even an initial flare), but ultimately also causing stoppage of testosterone production in the testes.
Perhaps an LHRH agonist like Lupron could be less trouble? My Lupron injections are a complete non-event, just a bit of bruise-type sensation on one hip for a day after at the most. Once every six months too, so very easy.
It may be that Firmagon is necessary for your case, but maybe someone else on here could chime in about
the possibility of changing to something else that's less uncomfortable for you. Lupron causes a testosterone surge when first administered when first starting HT, but I have no idea what it would do if you're already on an LHRH antagonist.
Hang in there, Dave. At least it will do the primary job of knocking down the testosterone!
