Vesicare for post-op incontinence?

I'm almost 6 weeks post-op and my surgeon just prescribed Vesicare to help with urinary incontinence. The anti-cholinergic effects I've noticed - dry mouth, dry eyes, dry nose, beginnings of some constipation, longer to empty the bladder when urinating. But so far no effect on the fact that i can only hold pee for about 90 seconds once I stand up and start moving around. The dribbling commences and doesn't stop until I sit down. Also, it seems to be making me tired - I sleep longer than normal.

Anyone have experience with this med?

Welcome to the fast leaker club, have the same issue myself 7 weeks post op. Have tried PT last week and going back.
They changed my kegel routine and it may be helping. Plus they teach you how to properly kegel without involving other muscle groups. Finally they use electricity to stimulate the correct pelvic floor muscles. It's a interesting buzzy feeling and somewhat indiscreet situation after what we have been through but if it helps I will do it every week. Might work better than pills, will let you know after a couple more sessions.

I was on Flomaxtra (tamsulosin) at night for urinary frequency and Vesicare 5mg in the morning for urinary urgency. Both seemed to work for me, but it is a bit hard to tell because they take some days to start to have an effect and when you stop they take time to get out of your system.

I was slow to start, slow to empty and slow to finish, this was okay the problem I found was the frequency and the urgency, look out here I come ..don't stand in my way ! It was interesting times at work when I had lots of meetings.

I did go to a urinary physiotherapist who helped me with my kegel exercises but I finally had to resort to a TURP to correct this problem.

Flomaxtra did make me a bit light headed and if I got up quickly I could get dizzy also if you have a heart condition you need to be carefull, particularily if you are on other beta blockers which lower your heart rate. I didn't notice the side effects listed above.

You need to talk to your Doctor about these and the side effects. I am not a medical practitioner.

If I remember, I had throat pain on Vesicare.
Have taken alfuzosin and Hytrin as possible help.

Thanks for sharing folks. I took it for 5 days, but I stopped it last night. It was making me want to stay in bed too long every morning (8-9 hrs of sleep didn't feel like enough) and I felt spacey all day. Eyes, mouth, nose too dry and fatigue.
