When do SEs of lupron start?

Had a 22.5 gm shot 4 days ago, so far no SEs . When do they start?

Usually more like four months. When I got my first three-month shot the nurse said I probably wouldn't notice much by way of side effects until my second shot. Some guys start to feel some of the side effects as early as six weeks but it takes a while.

I had a six-month shot. Probably 30-45 days before it hit me.

Thanks guys. My Uro said some of his patients have no noticeable SEs, so I was hoping I was one of them. I don't envision staying on Lupron after RT which would mean no more shots, so I should escape the bad Stuff.

Honestly, he left it up to me to have any ADT at all. He said there was a one month shot I could try, but when I showed up to get the shot, my Uro said the minimum dose he gives is 22.5 which will last for a month then taper off and be gone after three months by which time RT will have been completed. So I tried the 22.5 dose to see how I react to it. I have my RT Simulation on Tuesday and expect to start RT with 68.2 gy to the prostate bed ASAP after that, with particular emphasis on my positive margin and EPE at the base. He will not do the nodes since 10 were removed all negative.
Given the recent study cited elsewhere that said there is no difference in outcome whether the shots are received on an adjuvant (during SRT) vs. deferred basis (when symptoms / mets appear), I'm not sure it makes sense to go overboard. Question: If my PSA is zero after RT, why would I need to continue to take HT?

If you are talking about the study Jerry L linked to this morning I don't think it applies to your case. They are looking at when they should put men on hormone therapy to manage their cancer after all curative treatments have failed and their PSA is rising again. They are not talking about ADT as an adjunct to salvage radiotherapy.

Here is a study that is more to the point in your case: Concurrent androgen deprivation therapy during salvage prostate radiotherapy improves treatment outcomes in high risk patients.

In this study they don't look at the duration of ADT, exactly, but they did find that ADT conferred a benefit for high-risk men receiving salvage radiotherapy, and the median duration of the ADT in their study population was 11 months.
