Went home Sunday after Surgery on Friday.
Observations & Comments
1. A hospital is no place to rest and recuperate. Every 2 hours day and night someone was poking, prodding or doing something to keep me awake.
2. I learned to hate the breathing exercises; suck on the tube, cough and HURT
3. You never really appreciate a nurse until the times comes for you to get out of bed the first time to walk.
4. Is there any bed more uncomfortable than a hospital bed. I have slept on ground more comfortable.
5. Fear the cream of wheat, brown sugar only makes it a little less bad.
6. "The Catheter": feels strange, feels awkward but it is nice not to get out bed at 2 AM to pee. Blood came out and freaked me out. Nurse said it's normal and only happened once. Strange feeling like peeing but nothing happening from time to time. Won't miss it when it's gone.
7. The first time walking was painful in every aspect but the more I walked the easier it became, especially getting out of bed.
8. One does not truly appreciate the food around the house until hospital food is your only choice.
9. Coffee is a superb laxative
10. Strange lumps and bumps on my stomach from the gas and swelling.
11. no constipation, have gone from a once a day dump guy to twice a day.
12. darn glad it's behind me. Getting stronger, better by the hour. Dr. said he is amazed at my recovery.
13. The first shower is perhaps one of life's great pleasures
