I am deeply saddened that my friend, and YOUR friend, Terry Herbert has died from his 18 year battle with prostate cancer. I say your friend because Terry many years ago start the www.YANANOW.net website dedicated to bring survivors together. It was so very innovative as at that time there were few ways for prostate cancer peers to find each other.

Terry and I had a very friendly and special relationship. He made trips all around the world and eventually landed in Las Vegas specifically so that we could meet in person. Terry lived in Melbourne so it was not an easy get together. I'll post more at my website as news travels in. I am awaiting information on services.

We have lost a terrific prostate cancer advocate who gave countless hours, days, years, to working for a better place for us all. Terry was outspoken about over treatment. An ardent supporter of online forums, even this one.

I will miss my friend...

Thank you Terry.

Going on 8 years since diagnosis. Terry's web site was one of the first I came across.

Scared and confused it gave me hope for the future.

My condolences to his family.

So sad to hear this news about Terry. He was quick to respond to a posting I made on another forum with good advice and directions to his site. My condolences to his family.

He was a such an inspiration to so many and a true warrior. He and his good works will live on. The world was a better place thanks to Terry.

Sad news. I know the news was not good recently, but I was hoping that perhaps he was misreading his situation.

So, so sad. He has done more for PC patients than anyone can possibly express in words, but we sure can try. It is also sad that he has passed away never trying therapies like chemo, zytiga, xtandi. Perhaps, for the better...Quality of life was so important to him. I am quite shocked and saddened by this news. Condolances to his family. Will miss his positive attitude. And it was such a nice present for him to live a smiley in his last posting. It probably was not easy to smile, but he did. Thank you.

I'm sorry to learn of this news.  His site, the InfoLink, and HW were the sites I first visited when I was diagnosed.  His site was very unique in that you could identify quickly who was dealing with the gleason, stage, age, etc... that you were...and thus the You Are Not Alone part. 

You will be missed, but your mission and spirit continue.  Thank you for all you did and the seed that was planted in guys like me to carry on with our own journey...and to help others with theirs.

His son posted a notice on facebook today and some of us replied there too......met Terry online back in 2002 and his website was one of the few available sites especially being pro-patient and educational, made a big impact on me ever since, as did his tenacity at exploring PCa with lots of questions and contemplations (think a lot of that helped me and others), truly an icon in PCa circles and sad to lose him. No doubt PCa was impacted via his website and works, a real legacy in this community......

Being new to this site, I don't even begin to feel worthy of making a comment about Terry's passing. He had so many others of you who have been leaders and advocates for all of us here. I only recently became familiar with his site after his post about not making it to the twenty year mark and am very saddened to hear that it happened so quickly after. What an amazing man, and what great longevity given his choice of treatment. I am sure that his positive attitude, determination and perseverance helped him achieve such longevity. Rest in Peace.

Terry was a great man, and a great friend to all of us in the PC community. Can't believe he's gone now from this world, but alas his sufferings have ended.

May his dear soul rest in peace, and may his family take comfort in the good that he has done on behalf of all of us here at HW PC and at Yana.

He will be dearly missed by this poster.

In early 2006 I found this site by fumbling around, looking for guidance and hope for my husband. I was introduced to many here, BlueBird, Tony Crispino, Gordon to name a few. Tony was new to prostate cancer at that time also and yet he exhibited such kindness and I will never forget that. His desire to learn everything he could about this disease has led him down a path we all have benefitted from. That is how he met Terry. Terry wrote immediately back to me when I had questions to gave me encouragement and hope. He will continue to help others through his vast site, full of real stories of wonderful men who in turn share with us their lives. YANA.

Indeed, this is sad news. Terry helped me early on when I was first diagnosed, and his site was a wonderful source of information, support, and data. Terry, we're all with you in spirit. You are not alone.

This is sad news. Terry's site and philosophy were the most important factors in calming me down when I was first diagnosed. (I found this site later.) For me, he is a hero.
