Well, with all of my adoring fans begging me to return, HOW CAN I REFUSE.
This is such a momentous event that I even created a new thread.

I know you thought I would be gone forever (yes, well, technically it was 12 hours, but we all know that this could seem like an eternity --I'm sure for you guys much worse than say waiting for PSA results ). But how could I break my HW habit (I know, it's an addiction) for so long. I know I am returning in 10 hours instead of 12. That is 16.6666666666667% earlier than expected, APPROXIMATELY.

Again, it is good to be back. You are all worthy of my support.

Actually, a few of you aren't, but I put you on IGNORE.


Please don't thank me, for I myself am not worthy.

Well....a few adoring responses might be appropriate.

I was wondering about this "ignore" part. So if you are on an ignore list, and I am on that same list, does that mean we cancel each other out? Or does the number of people on the ignore list exponentially curve sort of like, say a psa value? How does the math work with that? Or is is sort of like a tree falling in a forest and nobody hears, or in this case reads........
It's all so confusing.

Regarding sqrt(-1), must you always talk about yourself.

We haven't even touched in the PRETEND IGNORE feature, which is clearly used quite often.

Mel, Chicago radio is talking this morning about a drug that can reverse heroin overdose (Naloxone). You might ask your uro if it might also reverse the effects of HW overdose.

You've gotten me thinking, though. If I would quit posting today, or worse yet die suddenly and never be heard from here again, would anyone even notice my absence? Probably not. Maybe my wife would :)

It hurts to think about that, so I'll stop.

When I come lurking you are one of the people I scroll down until I see a post from and then check out. Good to know I won't have to scroll a whole day, plus, and not find anything new from the Dean of HW Prostate Forum.

Now tell us all about the Farmers Market. What did you buy? What did you eat? What was for lunch? Did you buy some cotton candy? Then what? Please please please, tell tell tell...

First of all, from the bottom of my prostate, thank you Billy for the warm welcome.

Clock, I will take your suggestion under advisement.

Jack -- about the Farmer's Market. Let me tell you about that. Unfortunately, I have to preface my remarks by saying that I an still experiencing the SE of HT. They said it would take 6 months. Well, I still have 4 weeks to go, but my doctor strongly feels that 6 months and my SE will be history, until I have to get back on it. Meanwhile, the chief remaining symptoms are forgetfulness and indecision.

See what I mean. I forgot to answer your question about the Farmer's Market. Unless you have walked in my shoes, you would just not understand this agony that I go through on a daily basis. But I digress, so let me tell you...about whatever I was going to tell you about...oh, yeah, my Farmer's Market experience.

Well, first, I had to decide which car to take. Did I mention that HT causes indecision?

Do I take my vintage 1999 white Lincoln Towne Car, or my nice new 2013 Chrysler 300 with only 10,778 miles on it? I mean, there are many and varied aspects to making such a decision.

Anyway, I know I decided because I did drive there. I don't remember which car I picked because I am so forgetful. Also, that was 4 hours ago. Or was it yesterday?

Regardless, I got there and nobody else was there. I forgot that the Farmer's Market is only open on Saturday morning. And today is Thursday.

No...wait.

Welcome back. I "departed" in May, and stayed away mostly for about 5 or 6 weeks. Then I realized I missed the folks here, and started lurking more, and then gave up and "came back". It's not like I can ever really completely get this out of my head for long anyway.

Awesome, Peter. I'm not sure if anyone but engineers or mathematicians really get that last sentence. Brilliant. But of course, the product of two imaginary comments is likely to get real.

To the (sort of) point of this, I do wish there was a function that would let you ignore a thread. If started by an ignored poster, you won't see any thread they start. But it would be handy to whittle the list down by ignoring posts that aren't of interest.

Only the product of pure imaginary numbers are real.

Complex products are not real, unless they are conjugates.

It is like IGNORE vs. PRETEND IGNORE. Only one is real

No dissing of anyone meant, most folks just don't study even low-level math esoterica. No reason to do so.

Factor out the 2 in your second term. You then get 2 times a product of 2 conjugates. Hence real. In other words, it reduces to a product of 2 conjugates.

Oh, good. You didn't notice that my arithmetic was wrong. I think the product is 8.

Not giving up yet. 1+i and -1+i. Conjugates differ in the sign of the imaginary component. These differ in the sign of the real component. But, if my complex arithmetic doesn't fail me, their product is -2 which is negative but real.
