Hi everyone, I am from the 2011 summer bunch and although I have been browsing the forum, I haven't been posting much. I wanted to post a few weeks ago, but there were some very important active threads that I did not want to distract from at the time. There are those that are having a rough time along with their caregivers. And there are those that are sharing their successes with the fight. I am seeing a lot of new members that are carrying on with the spirit of this forum, both giving and receiving. This forum is still the best place to be IMHO for those affected by PCa.
I've updated my signature, so you can know my history. After
open RP 8/2011, I was happily shocked to be pulling 0's and thought I was one of the very lucky ones. My surgeon wanted me to follow up with ART, and I researched the ole ART vs SRT debate. MY decision was SRT after much research if needed. And even at this point, have no regrets.
So, 35 months after my RP, I was shocked that my PSA came back from 0's to .034. I retested immediately to confirm. Yep, it was correct. The reason I was really shocked is because I had already lost 30 lbs, was eating healthy, joined a gym and had slowed my drinking down pretty drastically already. I had already planned for this just in case by bookmarking a couple of threads from those that had lost their 0 or never got a 0.
Please don't turn this thread in to a debate. I am just sharing my journey. I am borrowing a friends computer right now and will link the thread I will be referring to when I get home. This thread is about
using supplements to keep the PSA from rising. After 30 days of going on these supplements and lowering my alcohol intake even more, I can report that my PSA dropped from .034 to .021. I also lost another 5 lbs.
I will also refer to this thread in the G9 thread when I get home later.
It's great to see some old friends on here and I wonder how some are that are MIA. Hopefully they are all well and just moving past PCa. There is always hope for all of us, and it is my hope that all are staying strong, especially the caregivers.
And yep, the rumor is correct-I plan on being at the NY GFMPH!
