Taxotere today

Hi everyone.
Today was the first day of Taxotere for my husband. His PSA had risen from 9 to 20 in about three weeks. My trepidation about not wanting him to get chemo was because he feels so good right now, and because it is only palliative. I did not want to see this end. I realize that with his rapidly rising PSA, he would have started having symptoms again, so I am at peace with the decision. He is feeling great tonight, eating a bowl of sherbet as I type this. Everyone at the Cancer Center in Carson City was awesome today, they could not have been better. They said that by tomorrow night he might feel a little punk. He has the best attitude. Life is Good.

Please let us know how he does in the following days.  My husband starts chemo in the next few months and he does not feel good about it. His psa is 99.5 and still rising. You give us hope. Carol

Sorry cspivak that your husband and you are going through this. Please let us know how the bone scan goes, and never give up. First line of treatment is hormone therapy, however, studies show that combining it with chemotherapy at the get go, does on average lengthen a mans lifespan.

I recently completed about 9 month of chemo. The lessons I learned served me well. Communication with the DRs or nurses is the most important. Explain how you feel as  they have drugs that will help curb the sickish feelings. Do not hesitate as why suffer needlessly. Some food will taste lousy, find what taste good. Soup and cereal worked well for me. You're taste buds will  come back after the chemo is completed. I learned if Food did not taste good I found what did taste good. If it does not taste good it is not worth eating. I learned that toward the end of chemo when I knew all was well that it was the easiest diet that I ever went on. It took some time to heal but I have recovered and life is good. GOOD LUCK WITH YOU'RE CHEMO TREATMENTS.....BILL
