My husband acquired triple-antibiotic-resistant klebsiella (a very serious infection) a year before he was diagnosed with PCa due to a urological test done on him with an infected catheter. The infection was in his bladder and prostate. It caused sepsis. He could not urinate and ended up in the emergency room. He was in the hospital for a week, had a catheter for a month because he could not urinate, and was on IV antibiotics for a few months. Every time the urologist took the catheter out he had to put it back in because my husband could not urinate. He recovered, but was left with a prostate full of scar tissue from the infection, and with some urinary symptoms. Because of this, he was afraid to do radiation as a primary treatment for PCa.

In any case, I do hope that you find relief from the problems that you are experiencing now.

Sorry to hear of these new developments. I know a lot of you have had RT but it really scares me knowing it may be in my future.

Thanks again for the thin pads you gave me at GFMPH Florida. That is all I use now after my AUS.

Oh man...

As you know, I 'enjoyed the pleasure of incontinence' for a while. For my sanity and to hide my issues I began to restrict liquids until my pee looked like motor oil. That is not recommended.
For a short while, I used an incontinence clamp inside my pee pad fortified Depends to maintain sanity.
The Cunningham clamp was smuggled to me at a GFMPH gathering by a kind person since I couldn't get it here.
You see, while New York State has given me permission to go into a gun shop and buy, and carry concealed, a loaded 9mm Glock, it will not let me buy a plastic, dribble-stop winkie clamp without a doctor's prescription! Sheesh! (And people think Texas's ultrasound test for pregnant women is intrusive.)

Anyway, I would be happy to send you mine (slightly used because I can't buy one new) or maybe you can get one yourself. If I recall it cost < $50.
It will pay for itself in less than 2 weeks and will help you keep your sanity.
You should set a timer to go off every 2 hours so you can drain and let blood flow start again.

Wow 142! It astonishes me how well you are handling this. When in NY, to me, you appeared to be handling these horrible things quite well and I found that very impressive. But we all need help and support at times, and I am glad to see you reaching out. I don't know if your situation will improve or not, we all hope it does. If anyone can handle these new developments, you are the strong person that will show us how. Sending you strength and support buddy.

Yes, hyperbaric has been discussed, and is on the list if this continues. They wanted to try laser cauterization, but there are too many spots. If all were treated, the urethra would no longer be flexible enough to be closed by the sphincter. An AUS is the doc's suggestion if all else fails.

I am rapidly clearing out all those Depends I kept thinking I would give to the shelter. Back up to 8 a day.

So sorry. Sometimes these things stabilize. The body finds a way to heal itself. Especially inflammation. We have many little helpers in our immune system. I hope it happens sooner rather than later for you.

I am really sorry you are faced with this. I am always so sad to hear of the struggles this disease takes on men, and the many different facets of life it steals. I am also in awe of all the outpouring of concern this group has, when a member reaches out. I think I would seriously consider getting what Jeff "worriedguy" has used. Sounds a little uncomfortable to use, but I can tell you are not comfortable with the current situation. Hang in there, and remember that NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!

True, but we still have a GREAT bunch of supporters right here in HW PC, ready to offer as much encouragement as they can when setbacks such as the one you are facing rear their ugly heads.

142- better lay off some of that Scotch you taught us so much about at GFMPH. If it burns the throat, can't be good for your situation. Hurts to even think about it.
