Had my DIVincy surgery last Thursday. Went home Friday. Feel OK with a lack of appitite. Had some constipation very painful.

Takes some time for the appetite to come back. The pain meds will do a number and half for constipation. Walking helps.

Rest up and walk as you can.

Before you know it, this will be just a bad memory.

Yeah, the no appetite thing...For a week or so I drank some of that liquid diet stuff, "Ensure" or something like that..Comes in different flavors and you get the nourishment you need to keep your energy and activity levels up...Don't be a couch potato! Strap that leg bag on and walk as much as you are comfortable with....Walking REALLY helps to speed the recovery back to normal...

Like the guys said. Walk, walk, walk. You really will feel better. And if things start to swell or to turn sort of purple, then that is maybe too much walking and you might want to recline for a while and watch some TV.

The last thing you want is constipation after having your prostate yanked out. My urologist told me to take Ducolax stool softners, and Miralax (very gentle and effective that you mix in water) laxative that has zero taste.
Also to reduce the opiate pain killers. I found out about constipation and hydrocodone after I had gall bladder surgery. So with my robotic surgery I took one only the first two nights home to sleep better. I found Aleve did a great job on pain and inflammation.

Take it easy like everyone else has stated. Walking is your friend, as are those stool softeners. That first stool I passed was tough but got much better after that. My RALP almost completely eliminated what was a very gassy past, now since I have started SRT almost a year later some of that gas is returning. Wish you good luck, all the best. Look forward to hearing bout that zero on your post surgery PSA.

Welcome to the other side!

Sounds pretty normal recovery so far.
Light meals for the first week.
Walk, water, walk water, etc.,etc.

Glad you made it through .. Now onto healing .. Take it easy.. Stool softener and eat light to begin with. Getting off pain meds will help.

Add some prune juice to your regiment and like has been said get up and walk... Sure it's a bit uncomfortable but will speed the recovery process. It will get a little better every day.

Walk, drink, walk, drink, ... and run 75 ft of 1/8" ID Tygon tubing from your basement sump pump to the living room couch. Plug your catheter in and at night you'll be able to drink, watch TV, drink, watch TV, drink... Nice!

And don't forget an extra five feet of tubing for walking outdoors. It has to be short enough so it doesn't get tangled in the bushes as it drags behind you but long enough so you don't wet your shoes.

Some good advice here, wish I thought about the tubing, as it would have saved getting up to empty the bag.

Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery! With any luck, perhaps us that have recently undergone this can be feeling much better by the holidays.

Dont worry about constipation, crap will come..

problem I had was the sequence issue, especially when wearing catheter. Most of us are unaware of the sequence in which we do the stuff, because we done it all our lives. Some would do #1 then #2, other would do #1 and #2 together; so with the catheter the signals and sequence are a bit muddled up. Wait for your right signals and the bowel movement is natural.

Whatever you do, dont strain!
