I was just wondering who among us bothers getting a flu shot every year and why? I know most Doctors say that when you reach a certain age or if your immune system has been compromised, you should!

Over here the flue jab is not openly offered until you reach age 60. Then they hand them out like candy. I got the letter last week from my doctor asking if I would like my “old man” flue jab. In the past I have never bothered, as I am a bit of a “home boy” these days and tend not to hang out in crowded places that could cause me to worry about flue. BUT. If and when I start my PC treatment I will defiantly be taking up that option, because I have learnt here that heavy treatment will break down your immune system and place you at great risk.

If you are under 60, even much younger and you have a long standing heart or respiratory condition such as asthma, you should have it anyway.

I get the shot most years... "An ounce of prevention.....

I'll also be getting a Shingles shot soon too now that I know Blue Cross will cover it and I not have to wait till I turn 60 in a few months.

Very important to get, per Dr. Snuffy Myers. More men die of influenza each year than of prostate cancer (flu triggers heart attacks per the doctor, science does not know why but it does).

I get the flu shot every year because it just seems right and gets out of the office for a couple of hours.

I always get one, although this year I keep being thwarted due to incompetence at local pharmacies where it's often easier to get the shot (in the US). I rarely get sick (well, other than this cancer thing) and I'd like to think the flu shot helps!

Never had one and I think that there is so much radiation in me that it could kill anything, including me.

Danny got one last year(his first ever), and was sick for 3 months because of it. The ER(yes, he felt so bad that we ended up in the emergency room) said that because his immune system was compromised, he apparently couldn't get over what's in it. Not getting one this year.

LOL. That is probably true Michael. I was reading through all the treatment options my uro gave me last week and it mentioned if I go for seed therapy then I will have to carry a letter with me if I travel abroad because the radiation will set off all the airport security systems!
