PSA is still <0.1, woo hoo!

Saw my medical oncologist today for my next 4 month Lupron shot. I had blood drawn only a couple hours earlier, and they already had the results for the consultation. Cool!

We discussed my bone loss (my T score is -2.3, and worse than -2.5 is osteoporosis), and it looks like we're agreeing on Prolia once every 6 months while I'm on hormone therapy. They're getting the paperwork arranged, including a "dental clearance" from my dentist. There's enough risk of jaw necrosis (yikes) that they want to be assured there's no likelihood of major dental work foreseen. And, the dentist has recommended a prescription toothpaste to really protect against bacteria attacking the teeth. Again, yikes, I'm not so sure this is a good idea!

Great news on psa....Congrats

I was on xgeva monthly for a year and for the past 18 months or so was getting a maintenance dose every 6 months...currently having an issue with exposed bone in my mouth...dentists and paradontalist said it was from trauma, but I can't do what they normally do for it because of the xgeva and risk of onj. He gave me a special rince and antibiitics...whole things reminds me when I was diagnosed with pc...but I'm a worrier....

I just wouldn't stay on these types of drugs for too long....craziness, all these drugs and side effects....but I wanted you to know that...

Yikes! But the other stuff you mentioned all sounds pretty scary to me. Hope that side of things also works out well for you.

Please DO remain vigilant with bone density/dental issues.  I am 20 years post-Lupron (3 series).  As Adjust said, "You gotta do what you gotta do".  I had no choice, as this chemical therapy is first line defense with endometriosis.  I have had and do have debilitating bone loss.  My dentist keeps a close check, since I have a solid porcelain crowned mouth full of potential loss.
