PSA currently at 7.71 (as of 2 weeks ago) - test done a couple of years ago showed 4.69, last year 5.67.
52 year old - called by doctor last week and referred to urologist. Went yesterday to see consultant - DRE done, MRI booked for Saturday morning and then a biopsy before final diagnosis and treatment if necessary. Live in London, UK. Father has enlarged prostrate, his brother died aged 74 of prostate cancer.

Welcome to HW, sorry you need to be here.

Not the path you wanted to take but sounds like you've got it under control. The biopsy isn't fun but does sound like what you need right now. If the worst is true, I'll bet you caught it early enough to be that, 'cure' zone.

Hang in there and keep us updated on your results.

Thanks guys for your responses. Had my MRI on Tuesday. Quite an experience to lay there on my back trying to keep still for so long - only problem was that when I came to get up, I couldn't move with an aching hip and the radiologist had to help me off the table. If you can't laugh, you'd cry. I have my TRUS biopsy this coming Tuesday - can't say I'm looking forward to it. Anyone know of a good site where I can get further information useful to UK practice?

The MRI is an annoying thing. I had one and yes, they have to help you up afterwards.

There are a few other UK folks around this site who might be able to answer that question.

I had my biopsy at St Peters near Woking.
Not pleasant but not awful either, maybe ask for a sedative.
I had one when I had a colonoscopy and fell asleep...:)

Had TRUS biopsy today - problem with lignocaine, so referred for another local with sedative. Not a bad experience overall in day surgery. Some blood on urine flow, but expecting this. Surgeon letter reports "low echo lesions on right apex". Does anyone know what low echo lesions are meant to be?
