American Cancer Society website reports that cancer is not contagious and that it can not be passed from one individual to another including by blood. Limitations on donating while being treated (and for some time after the treatment) for cancer are primarily for the protection of the donor. The treatments weaken the system and giving blood could further weaken the individual. Additionally some treatments should not be passed on to others, as in my case taking Avodart.
That's pretty well what I thought and why I'm so irked at the Canadian Blood Services.....and then they'll turn around and cry and beg for new donors as blood supplies are low.....go figure!
