Just got my latest PSA back from Dr. Lam and it is now 1.1. This was my second vacation but both lasted only 7 months. This time we tried both Metformin and Celebrex to help pro-long the vacation but to no avail. I am 2 months short of fighting the beast for 6 years. Dr. Lam wants to get away from the standard options so I am on my way to Phoenix for the C-11 Acetate PET/CT. Lets see if we can kill it this time. I will keep you posted. God bless all my brothers who fight this fight.

Good luck with the ongoing fight.

Interested to see the use of Celebrex. Didn't realise it was used for PCa. Is it purely a pain reliever or does it have some curative action?

Celebrex has been shown to slow down PSADT.

We might lose some battles but we will win the war. Loads of options left. Including going back to triple blockade. Cancer is still responding to ADT.

Celabrex is mainly an anti-inflammatory. Since inflammation "can" be a precursor to cancer, it is " useful. I was prescribed celebrex 48 hours before and a week after prosectomy. While I do not use it now. I do take 600mg every morning and 400 at night. have been doing this for 5 years with no problems from its inherent danger. But again, continuous exercise covers a multitude of sins.

The T starting coming back around the third month of vacation on both of them. PSA started rising around month 5 on both.

Howard,

glad you are going to have the C-11 Acetate. It is not covered by insuance and normally would cost you $3,000 out of pocket. If you have the F-18 Sodium test also, that is covered by insurance you can get a discount to $2,500 and be part of a clinical trial.

As valuable as these tests are, is the guy who interprets them, Dr. Fabio Almeida. His workstation looks like a NASA control panel.

I'm another G9 patient of Dr Lam's. Sorry to hear that your vacation is over. But it sounds like you've got a plan of attack that can work. Hoping this will let you slay the beast once and for all.
