While waiting at the doctor's office recently, I happened upon this, and it can be copied and spread about, no particular author claimed.  Perhaps some of you have seen this before, I don't remember it being on here.

Cancer is so limited...

It cannot cripple Love

It cannot shatter Hope

It cannot corrode Faith

It cannot destroy Peace

It cannot kill Friendship

It cannot suppress Memories

It cannot silence Courage

It cannot invade the Soul

It cannot steal Eternal Life

It cannot conquer the Spirit

Even though I posted this, at first I was going to disagree with "It cannot kill Friendship", but in thinking back, I just think it should read, "It cannot kill true Friendship".

Being in the midst of my 4th serious cancer battle, cancer has killed some false friendships and fake friendships, but definitely never killed off a true and sincere friendship.

In my life, I have always used words like "love" and "friend" sparingly, reserving them for the real thing. We live in an age where either word has been cheapened by misuse.

I first hand agree with all the tenants of these sayings posted.

I agree. Kick its ASS!

Sorry if that's a bad word here but I've watched my dad do it six (6) times over the past 25 years and REFUSE to let it define me.

BTW, I think that poem is on my mom (78) and dad's (82) refrigerator.

Exactly. One of the most important qualities of true friendship is that a friend doesn't tell lies and can be trusted. And friends are, by definition, equals, no matter what other distinctions separate them. If one friend sucks up all the oxygen in the relationship, it is not a friendship, it's codependency.

Thanks for sharing this Purgatory. I think there is a lot of truth in those words. Although during my dark days it is sometimes very hard to see through the fog.

What cancer CAN do is it strengthens the character, builds resolve in the soul, creates determination in us to achieve victory over it, and brings us to realize just what is truly important in our lives.

casper, trust me, I understand the "dark" lingo, even 6 years out plus, I still fly through dark clouds most days (mostly because of the relentless pain), but the "real" me, still knows there's a sun shining above those black clouds. And I happen to know the Creator of the Universe is above even that.

81 - you are exactly correct, too

bob - when I saw this last week waiting at the dr. office, was filling a little bummed out, I took the time to read it - it helped me, and thought why no share it with the gang. had a feeling it wasn't a totally original peace, but still had pearls of wisdom in it

The first time I saw these words they were on a luminary bag at a relay for life. Every time I read them they give me hope.

Thanks Dan. I got a lot of hopes pending on next Monday's visit with the new VA doctor. Going to unload the entire taco on this poor guy, he just doesn't know it yet.
