Avodart/Proscar for HT vacation

Haven't yet but based on Dr Myers recommends I've asked my Urologist to think about it if I have recurrance again. If Myers supports it it must be good.

I am on Jalyn (combines Avodart and Flomax), but no longer on other ADT. This was explained right upfront by both my urologist and medical oncologist that I would stay on Avodart for long term maintenance after my other ADT treatment stopped. This in line with Dr. Myers maintenance method.

I have had no problems or side effects from it. My PSA has stayed undetectable after the other ADT stopped a year ago. My uro was instrumental in the testing of Jalyn and prefers it over Avodart alone. He most always uses Flomax for his radiation patients and Jalyn is more convenient and showed better results than administering the drugs separately.

Not sure I need Flomax, just that it is part of Jalyn.   I don't know that changing to Avodart would be markedly different.   My uro was a principal investigator on the trials Reduce, Redeem, and Combine that assessed the value of Avodart and then Jalyn on prostate cancer.   It works fine for me and I see no reason to change anything.   The Combine trial indicated that Jalyn was better than the two drugs separately.    My intent   is to reduce the DHT so that at least it doesn't fuel whatever cancer might still be lurking.

I am experiencing a slow T recovery due to the long time on HT.   Recent test was 17.   The Avodart doesn't affect free T count.   It affects the DHT and that level is determined by a different test.
