Having had several of you mention Dr. Walsh's book, I ordered it from Amazon, along with "The definitive Guide to Prostate Cancer" by Katz and "Breakthroughs 2014 in Prostate Cancer" by Cohen. I'll pass on my insights after I read them.

Hal, the other book that many of us recommend is Dr. Scholz', "Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers". It provides a nice balance and counter point to the pro-surgery POV in Dr. Walsh's book.

I agree with Tudpock, it's a good investment to look into and consider things other than surgery. I'm not taking an anti-surgery stand at all, I just think it makes sense to explore everything.

halbert, interesting that you're purchasing these books now? Since you have it would be great for you to share what insight you have from them tho.

I strongly recommend Dr. Mulhall's book also (link in my signature below). I think all guys should understand well before beginning treatment how their treatment will impact their sexual function and what options exist for rehab/recovery.

Walsh's book is excellent. If I could read only one book, that would be it.
So is Dr Scholz book,
Dr Katz was my urologist , who diagnosed me. When I went back to him, after diagnosis, one of the things I asked is should I be doing anything in terms of supplements, diet , to help myself. He responded by asking me if I read his book. When I said no, he walked out of the room, and came back with a copy. I was so annoyed that I didn't read it.

I really should ready Mullhallls book. But when Gedman recommended it yo me, and even now, I'm so burnt out from redding about PC, that I couldn't take any more. But I need to get it.

I'm getting them because, fundamentally, I'm an information junkie. I figure that Dec 5 was one of those life turning points, and I'll be living with this beast forever, knowing as much as I can is a good thing. Besides, I need to open a new section in my home library. Now, if I could just find more space for bookcases......

I have now read 10 different PCa books and I agree that Dr. Walsh's book is the most complete and valuable when it comes to treatment options (long & short term).

There is one other book that I highly recommend for long diet & supplements of PCa. Promoting Wellness for Prostate Cancer Patients by Dr. Mark Moyad. He is the director of Preventative and Alternative Medicine at U of Mich. Medical Center. It is a clear, simple, well written book of about 200 pages. He delves into the diet needed to achieve a healthy life particularly during hormone treatment. He also reviews many of the popular supplements (herbs, vitamins, etc). He debunks many and tells you the details of the very few which might have a positive impact on your prostate cancer. It is up to date on the latest research on supplements & PCa, copyright 2013.
