Ok guys I have been hounded about not posting dates so here we go!

It is Official, the gathering will be held in Baton Rouge, on April 16 - 19th

I know that some of you have already booked flights into New Orleans.

Some folk will arrive as early as Monday before and some will stay through much of the next week. No problem.

I have room for a few RVs I think last time we had 6 RVs on the property. I also have a block of rooms reserved at a local hotel. When you are ready to book rooms let me know and I can give you directions on how to get the discount.

I make every attempt to introduce you to some of the Cajun Culture.

Looking forward to seeing you and the other GFMPHers again in person. I'm not booked yet but I am still hoping for some better rates on flights. Also hope to have a little more time to spend this time around even though I may be solo.
So please sign me up on any non HW event correspondence. If you need my contact info it should be with the Sept 14 attendees but I'll forward it if needed.

Gunner, not sure about your airports but Spirit has some terrific fares out of Detroit. I never fly them, but the fares were nearly half of everyone else.

Ok dumb question: what does GFMPH stand for? In context, I guess it's a gathering of members. Help a newbie out....

Good For My Prostate Health!

Ex. A new boat would be GFMPH, A new motorcycle would be GFMPH
In my case, a new surfboard would be GFMPH

I think you get it.

GFMPH is a gathering of guys from Healing Well with their wives, girlfriends, etc for a long weekend at one of the members house. Worried Guy in NY, Cajun Jeff and Sonny in Florida are trading off every other year.

I'll let some others explain it who have gone to more gatherings. I have only been to Sonny's last year and it was great to meet the guys and have a wonderful time, not just talking shop (PCa).

GFMPH is covered in one of the comments on our sticky thread on abbreviations but it probably ought to be promoted to the actual list.

GFMPH is a magic wand a man can wave to claim pretty much anything he wants as a necessary part of his prostate cancer treatment, usually to maintain his flagging morale. We are still working on the list but to date our research has shown that the following things are generally GFMPH: food cooked outside, single-malt Scotch, Corvettes, HUGE RVs, good company, expensive cigars, firearms, blowing stuff up, sitting by a fire and shooting the bull, and hanging out with guys who refuse to let cancer control their lives.

Hey guys, thanks. Tell you what, if there are any members here in New England, I'll set up a GFMPH gathering at my family's summer cottage in Southern Maine in late July. 2 hrs from Boston more or less. Anybody interested?

Sounds like a good idea. You might want to go to one first so you will know what you are letting yourself in for. In addition to the upcoming Baton Rouge event in April there will probably be one in September in Rocester NY, provided Jeff the Worried Guy doesn't come to his senses between now and then.

Not sure I'll be able to make Baton Rouge this year but I can assure you the Cajun Jeff treats his guests very well indeed.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Just tested the route before Christmas to visit you and Mama Pat, so sure I know the way to San Jose via Brusly LA.

I reserved a room with Hilton points but may switch it over to your rate if you have to hit a specific level to get the discount.

To make sure I guessed the right one, is it the one in Port Allen?

Our vacation club quoted $323 including tax for 3 nights, so hopefully you can use that as leverage to get an even lower rate since GFMPH is tax exempt.

If you can believe it we still have not made it back to suny FL as we are spending a week in MO Ozarks where we honeymooned many moons ago and then headed to chilly Chicago for daughter's and grandson's bithdays in mid-January and to STL to see Karen's mom who turns 90 at end of 2015.

May even try for another mini GFMPH with Wampuscats along the way later this month.

The main GFMPH's in Rochester, Baton Rouge and Orlando area are pushing 50 people with 25-30 guys and 20-25 partners. So careful what you ask for.

TC Vegas was also thinking about hosting an off cycle GFMPH in LAs Vegas but I cannot remember the dates.

You may want to set a limit based on capacity of the cottage and nearby hotels that may be hard to come by in season.

We used to go for a week in Small Point Maine back inthe day when I worked in Boston from 1975-1983.

Yeeessss!!!! It is finally time to start talking about the next get-together.

Sherry and I so excited and miss all of you so much, we can't wait to get there. I usually get there about a week early but if it doesn't get here quick I may show up on Valentine's day.

There a bunch of you new folks that have not had the chance to attend one yet, but you should definitely ask your questions and try to make it. It has been said many times that it is a life changer and that is no exaggeration.

Sherry and I were married at the event in NY in Sept. 2013 and we had our first anniversary there in Sept 2014.

This event will be the 11th such gathering, after they were started in Sept 2009, by WorriedGuy. I have had the pleasure of being to all but the first one. I missed that one because I was laid up in Detroit after having my surgery that week.

There is so much about GFMPH that just can't be put into words, but I have gained friends that will be with me for life. I once described it as having had holes in my soul filled that I did not even know existed.

Can you tell I am excited about getting there. Hope we have a big crowd and a bunch of new folks too.

The good hand-made cigars are already purchased and in the aging room, a couple of bottles of un-obtanium scotch put away (more to come, I hope), but I won't be there till Saturday night, so keep that open!

My first one was Cajun Style. One of the greatest weekends I've ever had, except that they planted the crazy idea that I might want to be a moderator.

Lots of firsts in my life, but this one is at the top of that list.

Cajun: thanks for the invite. At that point it looks like I'll be 4-6 weeks post surgery, so travel would be iffy at best (Baton Rouge is probably a 12 hr drive from here). I also still work for someone else, so taking vacation so quick after taking several weeks off for surgery probably isn't possible. I WILL try for the September gathering in Rochester.

Jeff, I'd love to make the trip. Bit feel like I need to get past my first PSA and get a little more confidence in th continence department. If I make it it will be a last minute decision, probably combine it with a few days in New Orleans.
So if u feel I can make it in a month or so, I'll email you, and hopefully there will be room. If not my tough luck and I'll hopefully meet up with everyone in Rochester

Schedule has been rearranged. Patsy and I will be there for the GFMPH gathering as well as my Dad's 98th birthday in Baton Rouge.
We are looking forward to seeing all y'all again.

I've been trying to attend one of these for awhile now, and my schedule never seems to be open as is the case with this one - very frustrating as I would like to meet many of you.

Have fun, enjoy, and I'll look forward to the ongoing, live reports!

In the meantime, I did add to my own GFMPH - and would love to make the big 75th rally out in Sturgis!
