You guys have been here w/ me ever since Bob's diagnosis and I feel like I "know" a lot of you (if that makes sense). I have went to the BC forum on HW and it is not very active. Tomorrow I go back for a mammo/US on a lump they found back in Nov. I'm nervous. You guys know how I worry (Prat, I see you shaking your head). After everything I have been through w/ Bob and watching the strength you all exhibit every day, I know I should put my big girl panties on and just deal w/ it and quit worrying but just thinking they are going to make me biopsy it again and that in 2013 the atypical cells they said were nothing on surgical path were actually "something", is messing w/ my head. Hope the mods don't boot me for this post but if they do I understand since it's not PC. ~Miki~

Doesn't matter, your concerns about BC are just as welcome here, as you are part of this community, we care about what our "other" half's are dealing with, its all part of the same picture with our family here.

Good luck, and hope you get a clear "all clear" signal soon, so you can put your worries to rest. Worry ,as you know, never helps a situation, only causes more needless grief.

As far as your big girl panties, sounds like a personal fashion decision, but if you need our help deciding....lol

Miki, they are not sure that it's a serious issue/BC. If they had any strong feeling that it was, they would have done something sooner, I would think, rather than having you wait 3 months.

Uncertainty sucks, and I know firsthand that I/we can tell you not to worry, from today till tomorrow, but we know and you know, it ain't gonna happen.

Best I can say, is they atrrobably being cautious, and good chance it's nothing. As hard as it is, try to think positive

Hi Miki, I think all of us try to fight or overcome anxiety but no matter how hard we try, it always seems to rear its ugly head. For me I try to focus on the fact that I am here today. Hope things go well for you.

They have me at Birads 3 from last mammo/US which is "probably benign" . Path has it noted as a possible septated cyst. (That means a wall existing inside of a cyst). It's funny I know so much about PC but I don't know much about BC, both of my surgical biopsies have came back benign so I never researched it too much. I know it is human nature (because I've read this forum so much) but now that they've had me on call back that it "might" be something it's like you start noticing other stuff and freaking out. Like now it feels like the lymph nodes in my neck and collar bone are sore and slightly swollen (this has been for about a week now). I'm just nervous, that's what it boils down to! @Purgatory the big girl panties need to be a staple in my wardrobe lol...I panic and worry over everything...I need to come up w/ some kind of marketing for people like me who need to just put their big girl panties on and deal w/ stuff. Instead of Victoria Secret Angels it could be Big Girl Bears or something...Ok you guys are more quick- witted than I am so you could probably come up w/ something better for my marketing lol.

Hey Miki, well you know I'm in a similar boat---playing the waiting game....I'm sending you happy and healthy thoughts and prayers.
Just remember that 80% statistic that keeps coming up with the BC thing...80% turn out to be nothing.

Miki -

The door is always open here, and you don't have to have a prostate to walk through it.

We're very, very happy here to help anybody who comes looking for help, and if we do, and maybe even brighten their day a little bit along the way, well, then that's a big plus for everybody.

We're more than just an odd assortment of usernames and words on a screen here, we're real people, and most of us have had just the kinds of experiences that can translate into some pretty good advice for handling what these diseases throw at us, and that includes helping people up when they feel down.

Please do feel welcome here and know that there's almost always somebody here 24/7, to talk to and to offer a shoulder to lean on. Count on it.

I really can identify with anxiety preceding a medical procedure. This afternoon, I had an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test. I'd been having some tightness in the chest, and my wife was recently diagnosed with a heart issue, so I was certain they would find clogged arteries and who know what else. After all, I'm nearly 70, and it wouldn't be unheard of to have developed cardiac issues.

Well, it looks as if everything is "normal," although the "echo" hasn't been completely read yet.

I was very nervous...unusually so for me, but sometimes things turn out right in spite of all our worrying. I hope this proves true for you, but even if it doesn't, I'm betting you'll find the strength to deal with it. I wish you the very best.

Miki - sorry you have to deal with that. That's is something you have my permission to worry a bit about.

Nobody likes having these tests and we all worry about them - so much of our future rides on what they find.

but your choice of undergarment is entirely up to you...

Hi Miki,
I have been to other conditions on HW as well because I have RA and other stuff. This is by far the most supportive and knowledgeable group and I immediately felt welcome here and part of a family. I'm setting up another live chat. Look for the poll and join us! I've had several surgeries on my shoulders due to my RA, but I think they work okay to cry on, and my arms work good for hugs...so that's what you're getting from me right now cyber style. Hang in there girl and we're here for you!

Miki. So sorry to hear about your concerns at the moment. But I have to agree with P-Man. If they thought it may be BC then I am sure they would of acted in a much shorter time frame.

Miki, I understand your anguish, my daughter was diagnosed with BC more than 4 years ago, and I know the horrible time we all went through waiting for test results.

The lack of activity on the BC forum on HW is disappointing, but we have found a good alternative at Breastcancer.org.

They do have an active community and with a very comprehensive set of threads dedicated to specific aspects of BC. You may find it worth a visit.

Miki, of course you are always welcome here - part of the family don't ya know!

While I am no expert when it comes to BC, I due know a bit about it; my Mom was DX'd with BC a few short weeks before I was DX'd with PCa. She ended up with a single mastectomy that went very well, until the first set of scans revealed bone mets. She has stayed ahead of that, as well as additional mets to liver and lungs. She's kicking it's @$$ for sure, and it has not slowed her down one bit. Still goes on 2-3 walks every day and lives an otherwise normal life.

Back to your situation, again not an expert by any means here, but to me it just sounds like your medial team is being diligent and staying on top of things. Please do keep us posted.

Miki,

I think I speak for all the moderators in saying that we are honored that you thought to turn to the forum for support with your worries. You have plenty on your plate without worrying about being "booted" for going off topic. I am grateful that I, personally, haven't had the need to learn much about breast cancer but we have a number of guys here who know quite a bit about it for more or less the same reasons that you know so much about prostate cancer. We're glad to be what help we can.

My first biopsy I had because he felt a nodule, came back with a few atypical cells, and some "pre-cancerous" cells.

I cracked to the doctor, are all cells pre-cancerous before they become cancerous ? Ha ha .

I changed urologists and I got a new one who said, hey, I haven't done a biopsy, better do that, about a year or so after the first. I again cracked, yeah, probably find some pre- cancerous cells again.

A couple weeks later, when I had to blow off the appointment to review the results, he called me at home at 7 in the evening.

"I have some bad news" he said. "Found a lot of Gleason 9 Cancer . Don't worry, with surgery and/or radiation, I think we can keep you going for 10 years or so."

Crap, Things sure changed in hurry. I sure felt like a smuck.

I would recommend doing another biopsy, and keeping a close eye on it. Seems as where there's smoke, there may be fire .

You are more than welcomed here to talk about your fears, you are now part of the family. A lot of us know you or have posted to your threads.

It is too bad most of the other Forums are not as active as HW PC. My wife had open heart surgery about 3 months after I had my PC surgery and had no one to talk to about it but me and the doctor.

I am a recovering alcoholic and the ONLY person who really understands what I went though is another recovering alcoholic.

By the way, both of my sisters are BC survivors and helped me after I was DX.

Giving cyber ((hugs)) to all of you for your support and words of encouragement. You don't know how much it means to me and how much the people in this group have touched our lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always being here for Bob and I. I had another ultrasound today (no mammo). The original cyst has stayed the same, however, after I mentioned to the tech another lump (that I thought was the lump they were talking about in the first place), she went ahead and focused on that area also (It's right below the original lump they were checking). Radiologist has me on a 3 month come back again for that one because it has irregular borders on one side but looking at the imaging and knowing my surgery history he believes it's the scar tissue making the area look irregular. (Benign cysts are usually perfectly smooth borders). So...back to the waiting game once again. Of course if I notice any changes I am to immediately come back for further testing. Again, thank you all. At least I can breath a little bit at least until April which is Bob's next PSA test.~Miki~

Yes, take a breath for a few months and trust that the radiologist sees nothing to be immediately concerned about. I'm very happy that they're keeping a close eye on things for you!

Miki, Thanks for letting us know. I've been thinking about you today and putting out the good vibes. Hope the "good news" trend continues with more definitive and less waiting til the next one for you. Got to get my mammo done this month too...oh yipee.
