So I let my bottle (2nd bottle since HDR) run out and haven't picked up the refill in three days.

I can actually feel a difference when  urinating now that I've been off of it for 2 - 3 days and I'm wondering about some other experiences.  I've taken it for six weeks and all has been mostly normal in that department, except for mild urgency (oxymoron?).

I'm planning to pick up my refill today I guess, and the doc wants me to stay on it until my next appt. in May.  The difference I feel peeing, without the Flomax, isn't positive but not all that bad.  I can feel some stinging now that I didn't feel a couple days ago plus it seems it isn't flowing as well.

When did others stop taking the Flomax?  Do surgery patients take it?

I took it until surgery. Haven't needed anything since then.

I just had LDR a week ago and my guy gave me some to take and said it is very important that I do. I don't have a problem with that because I have been taking it for the past two years anyway for my enlarged prostate.

Yeah, I don't have any side effects of taking the drug. It's just something to take every night and I wondered since I haven't taken it in three days; if I should worry about ending up an ER in a small Georgia town at midnight with strangers shoving a cathater up "there".

I plan to continue it tonight.

Good point and the very reason my guy told me that I must not stop taking it.

Just make sure you go pick up a new bottle and continue taking them until your doc tells you to stop. Having a pipe in your pipe is not nice at the best of times.

BTW. Most meds take about 48 hours to fully enter the system and about the same to exit.

When I went on HT I was having to get up 3-4 times per night. My doc put me on Flomax for nocturia. I take it each night at bed time and now only get up once per night. I guess it helps me empty completely during the day. I am a surgery and radiation guy. I am also fully continent.

When I was on Flomatra I was told it takes some time to start to have effect and when you stop taking it there is a lag before the effects wear out of you system.

Doug, after surgery, I was told to take Flomax for one week, beginning the night before my catheter came out. I didn't notice any difference while taking it vs after taking it.

Yep. Exactly the same thing my doctor told me. I was taking it for about 2 months before I noticed a real difference.

For that reason I cant see why taking it at night would make any difference. If it is already in your system all you are doing is topping it up each day. I take mine in the mornings. Have done for the past 2 years.
