My own theory on why “normal" patients seldom bring it up and don't seem to be very concerned about it is that they are still scared crapless about the big “C” word and have not yet learned enough about the disease to understand that for many men (not all) they may not need to take a tank to kill an ant.
That was my situation. So my answer is that it wasn't very important "then".
I didn't discover this site until after my surgery.
The urologist who diagnosed my PC (and surgeon who would perform my prostatectomy) said brachytherapy wasn't viable due to my enlarged prostate, and I don't recall him mentioning either the possibility of treatment to shrink my prostate first or that brachytherapy might be as effective with the possibility of less ED afterwards.
