Wanted to give a quick update. The surgery went well - 2.5 hours of Dr. Davis at the console Monday morning. He said the tumor was larger than first thought so that might not be a good thing. I found out it takes 5-6 weeks to get the path report back because Dr Davis only uses one pathologist - I think that's a great idea since he always gets repeatable accuracy.

Monday night wasn't great but I did manage to get a little sleep, by the time I was discharged (5PM Tuesday) I was feeling quite a bit better and apparently no bladder spasms - hooray. Had a good night's rest last night, I slept in the recliner chair.

I had some cramps from gas that would come and go and thankfully I managed to pass gas three or four times. Hopefully this will continue to improve.

I am so glad this is behind me now and looking forward to feeling better every day yeah . Thanks again for the kind thoughts and encouragement!

John welcome to the other side, from the .looks of your biopsy stats, chances are high that the toughets part is behind you . In a couple of weeks this will feel like a walk in the park.

Welcome to the other side of recovery John. Are you watching the Food Channel yet?

Now get up and start walking and drinking water, you'll want to flush out your system and get out all that anesthesia. Each day you will feel a little better that the day before.

Walk, drink, walk, drink, etc. etc.

Good luck with the path results, wonder why your doctor takes so long?
You usually get them back within the week. First PSA is about 3 months later.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. How are you making out with your new rubber friend? Most guys are complaining about their catheters at this point.

Thanks again guys! Bill - we have had a good laugh about your Food Channel obsession. Peter, Mr Rubber isn't too bad since it doesn't hurt (yet) but it's difficult to manage the bag and hose. I think the plan is to pull it out next Tuesday.

I had a shower a while ago and shaved - feel 100x times better.

Glad surgery came out fine. Keep on walking and drinking lots of water. I carried my bag around in a bucket, that helped a bunch! Keep on improving bit by bit.

Had a decent night's sleep in the recliner chair again, tonight I think I'll try the bed. Dear wife is emptying my bag three or four times a day, trying to push as much fluid as possible. It's getting easier to rise from a chair, passed quite a bit of gas earlier this morning and had a BM (runny but at least it was a BM.) Every day I see incremental improvements - thank goodness. The most disconcerting part of recovery has been my rumbling tummy and cramping due to gas. Not to be gross, but even passing gas is a minor victory :-) .

Glad everything went well and you have this in the rear view. As soon as you remove the cath you will feel 100X's better. Great news.

John, sounds like you're doing great, and with a sense of humor. It is bizarre to consider a BM a victory. I had my surgery on a tuesday and didn't have one till the following saturday. And I didn't do a colon cleanse before surgery.

I'm two weeks and 2 days since surgery, and I'm having a totally uneventful recovery. I hope yours is as uneventful as mine has been.

Halbert, I can't think of too much about this whole Prostate thing, that is NOT bizarre!

But glad that we are all having uneventful recoveries.

Thanks guys!! Tuesday to Saturday before a BM? Holy cow shocked . I'm having a few more cramps this afternoon but nothing like yesterday.

So the bed didn't work out too well last night, I took a sleeping med and woke up a couple of hours later. I was almost freaking out because I couldn't easily scoot myself around like I could in the chair. Getting out of the bed hurt like h*ll but once I got settled into my chair friend I had a decent sleep. Still waiting on that "normal" BM but at least passing some gas.

I walked six times yesterday and have kept increasing my walk duration. My appetite has returned - started with the evening meal last night and I'm hungry this morning. The Doc wants me to eat five small meals a day so I'm trying not to overeat.

John, maybe give it another day or two in the recliner, if I remember correctly after 5-6 days or so, it got easier to get out of bed, as long as I moved slow.
