Sue, I read your posts on Dave's circumstances and consider us very lucky to have access to good health care. I see from your thread there are quite a few of you from across Canada having the same issues. It's difficult enough to go through this but to have to fight for the most basic tests & treatments, not to mention being treated with respect as a human being, that is just wrong and I'm so sorry you and Dave have been through this. I will be updating here in regard to Don's treatments and and will be checking your thread also. I so appreciate the support and good thoughts and send the same to you. Also, sending some Florida sun to Dave :)

Beth, I see Gary has new liver lesions also, thats difficult news to accept. I hope he continues to progress on the trial and this vaccine takes care of those lesions! I think it's a brave move for him to be participating, please give him my thanks. To see you say your medonc is that impressed with Jevtana is very encouraging - will definitely be passing that along to Don.

Krissy, I think I actually felt some of those hugs - that made me smile! Doing better today and am listening to what you're saying. I will cry when I need to. But that won't take away my strength. TY

Hi Tednsal (Sal),

I agree with you regarding the Jevtana thread that Gizzynme (Rob) started. It was difficult to lose Rob and his thread was an excellent source of information. My husband did not do well on Jevtana. He didn’t have any harsh side effects, but his PSA took off. Hopefully it will help others as each case is different.

I also concur with “hospice” and how much they can help. I believe men think of it as dooms day and refuse to think of it. It has taken me a long time to realize that. In my case I know I cannot bring in hospice until the very end days. It’s just how it is with some men, very hard on the caregiver because you have to watch it all. I don’t know what to say Sal, but please know everyone cares about you and Ted.

I was able to re-read much of Robs and your posts on Jevtana. Back when I found that post it was the first time I'd heard of Jevtana and things are much closer to home reading it this time around. It was helpful to me and very kind of you to be thinking of us as BeeJane said.

You've not been far from my thoughts since your most recent post. I hope things have eased somewhat and you and Ted have had some relief. I know all of us are closely watching this thread so when you are able, please let us know how you both are doing. I hope we can offer you encouragement as you have encouraged us.

2010-2014 Casodex, Provenge, Nilandron, Zytiga, Orchiectomy, Xtandi.
PSA cont rise. Spot on spine & enlarged lymph nodes.
2014 Xgeva & Taxotare
10/31/2014 Last Taxotare due to SE’s PSA was 14.82 now 1.3
2/27/15 PSA 10.48
3/20/15 PSA 13.68 Multiple lesions found in liver
3/27/15 Start Jevtana w prednisone Neulasta 24 hrs after chemo

Gosh, my heart broke for you reading this, Barb. Yes, these drugs can do a number on him and from what I see in your sig, this has all taken place in a year's time! This is so much for him, for you and for your children to deal with on your own. I'm sure you have support from family and friends but they are not living this every day as you are. It sounds like he is pushing you away to distance himself from the emotional pain he's going through. Even though you recognize that, it must be devastating to hear him say these things.

You are going to his appt with him, right? Does he plan to let the doctor know how depressed he's been? Are you prepared to speak up if he doesn't? Your husband might not like it but it seems like it has to be done. The doctor can prescribe something for him if thats what is needed. There are some men here who have been depressed, got help and were glad they made that decision.
We have kids your age and I so wish there was something I could say to help you. Please let us know how the appointment goes.
