David, I hope that "thing" in your kidney is resolved easily. As I had already mentioned, two weeks from this coming Tuesday, I am scheduled for Laparoscopic surgery to have my left kidney and ureter removed due to a small malignant mass in the ureter just South of the renal pelvis. After watching many actual surgeries utilizing the laparoscopic method, I am MUCH less concerned/afraid/apprehensive about the procedure on me After a LOT of computer research, I have determined that even our blood pressure is somewhat depending on decent functioning of our kidneys. I will let you know how the laparoscopy procedure goes after I have my left kidney removed and get healed up. I too have experienced pain in my side for a few years now so I hope this procedure will resolve those dang persistent side pains I have been having.

David- I am sorry you had a bad day yesterday and hope that doesn't happen again. I don't like it that they (VA?) keep you waiting that long for an appointment. That is just unexcused.

I am having major trouble with the VA just to get the A&A pension for my elderly mother. Been waiting 6 months so far.

Hang tough David I am pulling for you! And praying too.

Sorry to read the latest news. You jogged my memory about the kidney scan, in that I thought you had that done before. I searched and it looks like you had:

squirm, no, at that time, nothing was found. so not sure how a 7.8 cm tumor wasn't noticed at that time, or how could it have grown so fast? Obviously, the old fashioned ultra sound by the VA was better suited to find this growth.

bob, please keep me posted. I have dodged the kidney surgery for now at least, since they are convinced it is benign. have half a mind to get a second opinion from my long time urologist, still thinking that over with. having a disconnected and non working bladder puts extra strain on my kidneys to begin with, that's always in the back of my mind.

today makes my 3rd really bad day in a row, this is getting old. went to help out at a KOC Fish Fry tonight, only lasted an hour before I had to go home, wasn't much help, to wiped out feeling within minutes. And thats' after getting up from a 2 1/2 hour nap before leaving to go. Such is my life these days. I had obligated myself to go and to bring something, which I did, but wasn't able to be of much help. Had to come straight home, take more pain meds and just lay around all evening.

David, there were scans done of your kidneys by the uro a year ago and lots of renal cysts were found in both kidneys. This happened when you saw the spine doctor who saw something on the MRI and sent you to your uro for further evaluation. So this latest finding shouldn't be a surprise.

Yes, I think it was exactly a year ago that he said,
"Got the all clear on the kidney scans. Yes, there are lots of common renal cysts in both kidneys, but said nothing that needs any kind of follow up now or in the future. No evidence of "solid" lumps. Said half of any one over age 50 will have renal cysts, shouldn't cause me any problems."

The special 3D CT scans done by the urologist last year hopefully should have been convincing enough to lay the issue to rest. Hopefully the same will be true of the jaw lump which the oncologist scanned last fall.

Last post for a while.

No, this isn't a farewell post, so don't worry.

Feeling totally overwhelmed at the moment, with all of this medical stuff going on, and now its starting to effect my personal life, that, and other issues in my life. Feeling burned out. I can't help someone at the moment, when I can't even help myself.

Will be back at some unspecified time in the future, when there is something useful or important to post.

Dearest David...We often need to take a sebatical, with no apologies necessary.  I certainly understand how this thing called "LIFE" can take us by the throat sometimes.

Will watch for your return, I feel like you burned out...Having a sore throat doesn't help...will give my pcp a call tomorrow...and I had 4 dr's appointments this past week...wiped out...
So hope my prayers help and that you can get into the VA soon...
Many prayers, if only our families could really get it...so mad at mine...really hope you and Barbara start doing a little better, you are both awesome advise givers...You are such a good friend, you have my prayers and a shoulder to lean on...keep hope...

Hello David ~ I am also sorry I missed you! When you come back around you will see that Ron and I think of you every day in our prayers. Your journey has been a heart breaker, so we look for whatever positives you may have in your life. So sorry you are exhausted. Your body has been through so much. Thank you for all the support you have provided.

Ron is still cancer free and we are thankful for that. Ron had that gum surgery (cost $600). He still gets the pain shots in his shoulder and back but is able to continue his walking. That's his form of freedom.

Hello Special Lady! Always wonder how you and your husband are doing.

Dixie6, I am so sad to hear about the Shingles in the eye. How horrible that must be. We will add you to our prayer list. Would you believe I have the Shingles vaccine brochure right here. We wanted to wait until after Easter to get the vaccine. I am sure you would recommend this for us. My brother suffered from it and it was so painful. I hope you do get some relief.
