How bad is fatigue on Lupron

I have been on HT since July of 2013. I was on Degarelix for a year and then Lupron until now. At first the fatigue was not too bad. It did get more noticeable the longer I was on it. But it seemed to level out after a year. What bothers me the most is the feeling that I just don't want to do anything. I always feel like I can take a nap. If I exercise I feel better but if I overdo the exercise my joints and muscles hurt. So to be honest it has been hard on me. I also have gained weight around the middle and lost some muscle mass. I was a big mountain biker and could easily do multiple day rides of 20-25 plus miles before HT. Now I can do 10-12 miles per ride and be pretty tired. And multi-day rides are out. The most is 2 days in a row. The important thing to remember which I have learned from others here is that everyone's SEs are different. You may not have any severe SEs. I think the main SE is fatigue but it varies. Hopefully you will do fine. The HT is worth the results I have experienced so if I was even more tired I would still do it. Hopefully more experienced members will reply soon. Hope this helps.

I have been on Lupron for most of the last 4 years. I have gained weight in the gut, about 10 pounds and I am getting flabby. I have no noticeable bone or joint aches but I admit that I do not exercise much, mostly because of the stress leakage :( I can take a very short afternoon nap when I am home whereas I could not nap before all this started. In my office at work some days I get sleepy in the afternoon. Doing physical work in the yard tires me more than it used to. I am careful not to lift heavy object or do any jarring activity due to the spine mets.

Ed, you are the first guy that I have read about here that has not succumbed to the Lupron SEs. You give me encouragement.

I decided I would reply to your question you left on my thread on your own thread. I guess I need to update my profile. My signature says 5 1/2 years on ADT but it has been closer to 7 1/2 years. In the beginning of androgen deprivation therapy, I must admit, I hated it. I had no less than a dozen hot flashes every day, I slept under a sheet and still had night sweats almost every night, my chest became swollen and tender like I was growing breasts, and I became rather emotional. I lost all interest in making love to my bride. The little guy quit working but it didn't bother me. It bothered my wife a lot though. It was hard Tom. It was really really hard. I was alive though. I am alive still.

I learned how to deal with it. We kept the heat off in the bedroom and I bought a small fan that sits on the night stand and blows cool air in my face. Because we were newly weds we kept trying in the bedroom and finally started using Trimix. 9 years later I am still on ADT but we no longer require ED medication. I still don't have a libido but I can will myself to perform. My chest went back to normal. I did a 6 month stint on D.E.S. ( not recommended) and had to have my chest radiated when I reached an a-cup. I am still emotional. Humor helps. My daughter revoked my man card when I cried at the Hannah Montana movie. I now have a shoe fettish. Fatigue is there but I am married to a woman who would not allow me to lay on the porch and lick my nuts. We stay active. It helps.....there is a light at the end of your tunnel. The only light at the end of mine is the light that you go into at the end. Ha ha ha. I am sick..... What can I say. Regards.... Todd

Guess I'll find out pretty soon. I couldn't stand the Flowmax side effects, stopped that after first night.
