Partner has departed

My partner Bob passed away yesterday. He had been fighting this illness for 6 years, but realize now after looking at medical records that he probably had it 10 years before we joined forces. He was a unique loving man who treated me like gold. I. You all have been an invaluable support. I will try to stay connected, and continue to wish the day a real cure can be accomplished. I now turn my heart to working on a written piece for the medical clinic I work for , concerning caregiving. I have never worked so hard, or have been this physically and mentally drained, but I know that I gave him everything I had to make his transition and treatments easier for him. The last lucid thought he share with me were to tell me how proud he was of me, and to be strong. will miss him all the days of my life.

Susan, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Bob was in such good care with you and his passing was made easier because you saw him through. He knew that and I hope that brings you some comfort and peace of mind.

To use a seasonally appropriate quote: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. You have been faithful....." I'm so sorry your partner had to take such a painful journey to his end. It's so sad to hear that another caregiver's work is done, but I know that your love and help was what kept your partner going all this time. The love you felt for Bob came through in your posts. He couldn't have asked for a better fellow traveler down his long road.

Draw on the happy memories of your precious time together to get you through the future without Bob. Yes you should be very proud of yourself, he was lucky to have you by his side as you have been lucky to have him in your life, albeit for all too short a time.

There are days when many of us take PC for granted. We know that death is a possibility, but many of us think it will not be us.

Your account causes me to sober up, and realize that this is a deadly disease.

Thank you for your example as a devoted caregiver. Many of us are thankful for our spouses,partners, and family members who are instrumental in caring for us, but we tend to take them for granted as well.

May Bob rest in piece, and you find peace in your life as you miss a devoted partner.
