We've all heard about
people allegedly developing cancer from spurious radiation generated by nearby machines.
Well, the link below is to a report that, supposedly, women who have gotten into the habit of storing their cellphones in their bras have inadvertently been exposing themselves to enough radiation from that phone to eventually cause BC.
At first it sounds like one of those supermarket tabloid things, but there do seem to be a number of supposedly responsible reports on the web about
this.
There is even a comment in the report linked below that a young woman, only 21, developed a BC tumor
at the very spot where she was carrying her phone in her bra.
And maybe the general subject of this post
isn't so off-topic after all. I suspect a lot of us guys, like me, carry our cellphone
turned on in one of our pants pockets. So, is that close enough to our prostate/genital areas for radiation from that nearby phone to cause trouble later on?
I did a web literature search on this topic, and, as I suspected, there is a considerable difference of opinion on whether there is a problem here re the phone in the pants. However, I did find a general comment on a number of sites that any tissue within a six-inch radius of a powered cellphone is possibly in danger of abnormal radiation exposure.
Perhaps more will be coming out about
this, but, personally, I'm going to start carrying my cellphone in my pocket in the OFF mode.
One can't be too careful.
Oh, and getting back to the original topic, if any of our forum sisters now reading this have been using their bras as convenient phone storage areas, might be wise to reconsider that. (Or, ladies, if you have adult daughters using cellphones, you might want to check with them to make sure they are not doing this).
