Made it!

On 9 December 1988, at the age of 43 I had a massive Cardiac Arrest. Was in my car, fortunately stopped at traffic lights when I collapsed. As luck would have it, there was a police car right behind me and they revived me and kept me alive until an ambulance arrived. I was later advised that my heart had stopped on 5 occasions and I was resucitated each time. When I was finally discharged from hospital about 10 days later, my cardiologist said I was very lucky, but if I looked after myself (and stopped smoking) there was now no reason I shouldn't live to 70 and beyond.

Today is my 70th birthday!!

Was a scare almost 2 years ago to the day when I was diagnosed with PCa, but so far so good and now aiming for 80........and beyond!!

Thanks to all for the good wishes, and to Logo, yes never had another cigarette from that day on. Mind you was amazed that others in the hospital with the same condition were out having a smoke as soon as they were allowed out of bed.

Just had a wonderful lunch with all my family and so happy that I got the chance to see my grandchildren develop into fine young people.

In spite of PCa I feel very fortunate.

There is no doubt that life threatening conditions sharpen your focus on what is really important in life, but then no need to tell you guys that😊

Did they ever find the cause of the cardiac arrest? You mentioned you quit smoking. Great! Did you also begin a weight loss and exercise program?
