Dry heaves after second Lupron injection and day four of radiation

Any one ever have this complication? My husband said he had dry heaves in the middle of the night last night. As I said in the subject line, he had his second Lupron injection this past Thursday, right before he began his radiation treatment. He has tolerated the Lupron fairly well, he gets hot flashes, chills, and insomnia.

He's getting IMRT at MGH. He's going to check with the rad-onc today.

And our son who is visiting from China cooked him dinner last night.

Hmm...one doctor told me he doesn't believe in coincidences.

From the link you can see DH is having on and off nausea after his last shot about 1 1/2 weeks ago. He hadn't experienced nausea from the shots before, but it is listed as a possible side effect on www.rxlist.com and drugs.com. Let us know what your RO says.

It was his normal day to see the rad-onc and they went over everything. We'll see what happens. It will either get better, get worse or stay the same.

My lupron shots have been uneventful. I wouldn't expect the RT to be causing that either.

But food changes might. My RO was insistent that I keep a very stable diet during RT, with deviations allowed only on Friday night. It wasn't so much that it was a good diet, but that the intestines be absolutely predictable. I did find that some foods I really enjoyed before had to be avoided at all costs.

Just about everything causes Gary to have nausea and often dry heaves. If your DH doesn't get better soon email me and I'll share what has worked for us. Best wishes,

I had forgotten about the radiation diet. So had he. We now have print outs of all the lovely bland Wonder Bread stuff. He loves the hottest peppers, so this will be a change.

Thanks for all the ideas. He did well overnight, so maybe it was a fluke.

Interesting the rad-onc asked him to take Advil to aid urinary flow, in addition to his other meds.
