I feel you, clocknut. I haven't been around that long and sometimes i feel the same way. I also agree with you about logos, he will be missed. Maybe an errant wave will knock some sense into him and he'll decide to come back.

I think a lot of posters start out with a blur of activity on HW and that's simply not sustainable for most folks over the long run. As for myself, I am continually trying to figure out what my role is here. Is it to be able to talk about my own journey? How I fared with my own choice of treatments? To offer a different perspective and provide food for thought to newbies? Maybe it's just to be supportive to those that have just been diagnosed.

I'm not really sure what I should be doing here and sometimes I wonder if I should even keep hanging out here. It's the only thing that even reminds me that I had cancer--otherwise I never give it a second thought anymore.

But at the same time, I did get such incredible help from others when I was first here and to the extent that I can help replicate that help for others, I do feel an obligation. (To tie that help back to subject of this post--Logo was one of the more poignant commenters on my very first thread. And I actually understood his post.)

I saw that Prat posted that the heart disease forum is dead as a doorknob and I would hate to ever see our little corner of the world get that way.

on many forum the act of "checking out" is grounds for suspension. but not here. Logo has checked out before. he'll be baaaaack cool

No, I'm afraid being a Logoslidat impersonator is rather like being an Elvis impersonator: it just doesn't quite cut it like the real thing.

So come on back, Logos, and show us all how the REAL Logos does it!

You guys are right ...., people come and go on this forum, like they do on all forums. It is the nature of the beast.

When I visit the forum now I find myself focusing on what some of the understated old hands have to say (ie. myman, TimG, etc.). Also, I really like it when one of the people who left stops by and gives an update, or some tidbit of new information. I wish more of the "retirees" would drop in. Hopefully Logos will do this.

Michael your post is spot on.
I feel good when i can speak to a newbie who is all out of their mind with the fear that i felt when i came here. So thats a big part of what keeps me here.
And Beth makes a good point. This is a very unique place - a hard thing to be on the internet. I've never seen such an active, knowledgeable, truthful, and supportive group on an internet forum. I think its important to keep it going. I may slow down on my posts one day, but not just yet. I think so many of us would have been truly lost if we had not found this place to get us back up on our feet after diagnosis.

As far as logos goes - i say it again - he'll be missed. I always was interested in his posts, whether i understood them or not. Even when he was slapping me in the face with truth.

On behalf of Steve and myself, I just want to say thank you to each and every person on this forum who has and continues to "pay it forward". I'm not overstating when I say HW has been our lifeline on more than one occasion.

I don't mean to put a guilt trip on any who have moved on or who take a much needed break. We've only been here a very short time and my heart aches every time I see a new "just diagnosed" topic. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have read posts like that for years.

Just had to say this. Steve says I talk/type too much. Lol
