If you have an AUS, do you feel normal pressure that tells you you need to head to the bathroom, or do you have to remember to use it on a schedule?

I think most of us feel fairly normal urgency. We do have to pay more attention since at least some of us tend to leak if we ignore the feeling for too long.

I asked the same question before I had my AUS installed. Now, after having it a year, it is pretty much like before. I have a natural urge when it is time. My stream also seems stronger than before.

Rigby, I'm like Big Mac and Peter DisAbelard, I feel normal urgency to go - just like I did before my RALP 4 years ago. When my urologist activated my AUS last year, he advised me to be sure to empty my bladder at least every two hours. I don't keep a stop watch on my urges to go but my "going" probably fits within that schedule. I just pay attention and, if I try to ignore an urge for a few minutes until I finish some activity, I sometimes leak (the urge just cannot be denied or ignored for very long).

Didn't change things for me either. I sometimes had climacturia during orgasm before the AUS was activated and I still sometimes have it now. I suspect the cuff around the urethra only slightly squeezes the urethra closed and any kind of higher pressure will push urine past the cuff. I've noticed this when pressure in my bladder reaches a certain level - if I don't void my bladder soon, that pressure will push urine past the cuff and I'll be leaking. Luckily I wear a shield in my briefs to catch those kind of leaks.
