Any guys <= 50 had brachytherapy?

I am 48. 4/12 cores. 3 were 3+3. 1 3+4. I am being treated at Dana Faber in Boston (top 5 in US). Met with oncologist, radiation and surgeon. Radiologist even recommended surgery because of my age and ability to recover. They said you take the hits up front with surgery vs over time with radiation. The uncertainty / roll the dice of surgery freighters me. I just started looking into focal therapy where they target and kill the tumor only. I am not sure I would qualify but to me focal seems to be a immediate fix for the two lesions showing up on the 3T MRI while technology improves on new treatments or it buys me time to consider Bracky later.

oh im going for it as wellbut im doing the combo to make sure 20 ebrt and 1 brachy high dose only because decipher results were saying I was high risk.....the though of any surgery scares me to hell.....both treatments have the same outcomes and radiation combo so im told is 90% successate also you can have salvage rp if needed...a lot of hospityals do it

I was not in your age group but was also a GS (3 +4). Skill, as stated earlier, plays a huge factor! For those who have had seeds planted from a highly skilled RO the side effects seem to be just one; "loss of sauce". Read through the BT signatures and they will bare out what I am saying. I know of no studies just related to young men utilizing this therapy. I am not sure why your guy would rule out BT. I do know that surgeons/uros tend to promote surgery and RO's tend to promote RT. That said, talk to people who have been through this and do the research. I wish you well and please keep us posted.
