Hi guys,

Everything is going well, PSA .05. 16 mos post robotic op. Have had a problem with a damp scrotum area. Its not urine it seems as though it is always sweating. developed a rash on vacation and went to see dermo when we returned. He said it was yeast infection caused by old fashioned jock itch. Prescribed Kentonal cream which seems to clear up rash but its still damp in the area. Any ideas?

I have been using some baby powder and it seems to help with the damp feeling.

If you've got an infection then first you need some meds/cream to get rid of it. Then, once it's celared up you can take steps to prevent a recurrence by making sure you get fresh air on the area as much as possible. I remember being very glad I had my surgery in the summer so that in the immedaite aftermath I could very loose clothing and very little of it.
Trouble now is that I have to be much more wary when it's hot given I have to wear pads 24/7 - thus have to try and make it 23.5/7 ! )

When I leaked like a rusty bucket I used two different diaper rash creams/ointments every few days. I'd use the coal tar based one for 2 or 3 days, then switch to the Zinc Oxide one for a similar duration.
That kept the fungi guessing.

Man, I am tore up by rash on scrotum and head of penis. Going to be trying more fresh air and powder. Did you spell the name of the prescribed creme correct? Couldn't find it on google.

I looked around the house for the tubes but could not find them. I must have given them away to somebody that needed the stuff. I did find one cream I still had. A 2 oz, 56g, tube of CVS Maximum Strength Cortisone, 1% Hydrocortisone anti-itch cream.
The other two I used the most were for Diaper rash
A+D Zinc Oxide Diaper Rash cream
And Desitin products with Petrolatum 70.3%
I'm still looking for the coal tar one. I remember the goop was sticky yellow.
Found it!!!
CVS Psoriasin Ointment with 2% Coal Tar.

Just go to a big drug store and browse. Spend 20 bucks and get 3 different ones with 3 different active ingredients and use them one at a time. Don't mix. You're not playing with your childhood chemistry set.

My point was to use something for a couple of days and just when the bacteria and fungi were starting to figure out how to beat it I'd swap to something else and catch 'em off guard.

Had redness on end of penis and was told to use a barrier cream, such as A & D (used for diaper rash). Worked just fine.
