Happily Uncertain Lad, with a question.

Last Tuesday I was made a happy boy. After my DaVinci RP, and after having been sentenced to an extra week with the catheter, it finally came out after 17 days.

So far so good with the pads, hope that continues.

Path report was mysterious. There was some very good news, but it seems like no good news comes unmixed: Gleeson went DOWN from 7 (3+4) at biopsy to 6 (3+3). Organ confined, no EPE no SV etc. etc. but 2 margins, one of which was sizeable. Oh well. Life is uncertainty.

As some have also reported, I am wearing a rut in the floor from the bed to the bathroom all during the night. Every 90 minutes...even when I stop drinking anything at 6pm! Thinking I should drink like a fish and stop by 3 in the afternoon. Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

Cath coming out is a great day, a milestone I won't forget for sure. Sounds like the pads are going OK, more annoying than anything for me having something wet in your shorts all the time.

Stopping fluid intake even earlier may help but it may be just more time is needed. When I read your post my thoughts were you in are in great shape even though every 90 minutes probably gets very old.

I wish I would have had the urge to get up every 90 minutes at night, instead I needed an underwear pad and several large bed protection pads. All of which were soaked by the time I felt the need to get up. That went on for a month or more.

Night time flow improvement was a slow and gradual process for me. I'm 8 months post surgery and still need the pad / protector setup on occasion if there is any alcohol in the evening.

Hang in there, it will improve and when it does it's almost as good as the cath coming out. Keep us updated on your progress.

You'll find things move in stages. You may go days at a stable (but unpleasant) state, then make sudden leaps of improvement. You're just a few days out from catheter removal, so it takes time. What I learned is that alcohol created issues for me, but I actually had better luck with more instead of less water.

It gets better.

I wouldn't worry about the positive margins very much. Many don't show their ugly head for years if any at all, especially with GS6 diagnosis. There have been a few papers published showing statistics on risk factor based on PM locations.
