Up all night, this time for a good reason.

Danced at my daughter's wedding!!!

It was almost a year in the planning.

Had the rehearsal celebration Friday, too.

Get-together for brunch later today.

Continuing vacation after that (Touring Rockport area, then Boston, Cape Cod, NH, probably Maine too -- newly retired so we will come home whenever we darn well feel like it!!!).

I cried a bit last night. Typical father stuff, but also so grateful I got to see this day!!

Mel, big congrats to you and your family. I know you sweated things out for a while, and I know as the father of an as yet unmarried daughter, that there are few joys in life that can compare to what you felt last night. I'm happy you got to experience it. Enjoy the rest of your vaca

As a mathematician it must be hard to calculate all of the joy that this wonderful event has brought you, and to add up all of the wonderful feelings that have come from it. May it prove to be a great moment in your life, and may wonderful memories of it continue to multiply over the years!

Congratulations.

Weddings are good. So are baby showers, christenings and family get-togethers at Disney World.

You've got a lot to look forward to yet.

Actually, my family has a surprisingly good time at funerals, too, but the older I get the more I find I prefer weddings.

Sounds wonderful, Mel. We enjoyed our younger daughter's wedding in June - know the feelings well.

Wedding are my favorite event in the world. Everyone comes so you get to see so many people. And everyone is in a good mood.

Congrats to you and YOUR bride on the wedding of your daughter. Now that the planning, stress, anxiety, $$$$$, is all behind you, go out and enjoy YOUR vacation. Must be pretty and cool in New England this time of the year.

Congrats ! Just married my baby off last month.

I saw your post, and said to myself, wow, I thought Mel was married.

We are checking into a cottage at Owls Head right on the coast on 10/15, and spending 9 days there. Supposed to be the height of fall color.

If you stay a long time, might see you at some tourist attraction. Wear a name tag so I will recognize you !

That is great! I hope I'm around for my daughters wedding. It's a bitter sweet moment. One every dad looks forward to, but it's an emotional time. Congrats to you and your daughter. Enjoy your vacation!

Congratulations. When I "gave" away my only daughter 12 years ago, was a hard thing to do. She's always been a daddy's girl. Know the feeling.

It's extra emotional because in my darkest days I was not sure I would be around to see this day.

Thanks for the kind words. It has been a nice respite -- an oasis in the PC desert.

Currently in Rockport.

Will spend tomorrow in Boston
