Seem to be more recurrences after many years at zero

Is it just my head playing games or recently do there appear to have been quite a lot more "PSA rising after x years at zero". Is it just because that is where my sensitivities lie at present? A bit like when your wife is pregnant, everyone appears to be pregnant as well.

It may be self- perception on your part but is likely also a reality of the Forum. This 'effect' is what prompted my/NKinney's sticky note some months back... the very fact that this is a help forum tends to pre-select joiners being the PCa population that needs help (with something); else for the most part they don't need to come here. So it's like sitting in a Doctors waiting room... place is full of people who need to see a Doctor yeah

We also see a lot of posts with "undetectable" which I found very encouraging.

Things tend to go in cycles around here. We'll get a bunch of new members, a bunch of guys doing radiation then a bunch with problems on HT. Then it goes silent for a few days.

Yeah, late we've seen that. I bet in a couple of weeks we'll see something else.

Moderators, do you know the answer ? Susan I do see that on yours, but not mine...I also see it on others post but not every ones. I suspect new software may be acting up... so I will ignore...tee hee... I could not in a trillion years resist that temptation. I mean I am but a mortal...so funny{ in both uses of the word},to me, at least tongue

Case in point. Just had my 6 mo PSA. Ten years out from DaVicni and just hit 0.20. Six months ago it was 0.19. Started rising about 5 years ago and has crept up from <0.03 to current level. I am very reluctant to consider salvage radiation as my health is otherwise great. 68 years old, no incontinence or ED issues. Doc is in agreement and says we'll keep checking e very 6 months and, if psa starts to spike, then we rethink the options.

Prudent thinking Jmon...its moving but very very slowly. Im in the same situation tho I have opted for a yearly test. My uro said he would recommend 6 mod but sees no harm in a year either. Mine went from 0.07 in march 2014 to 0.14 in march of 2015 then to 0.15 6mos later. Im quite happy with that and have very few thoughts of my own cancer journey. psa tests do make me think of it tho, which is why that when have the next one next october. I may never do another one, depending on the results or in spite of them... Good luck in you post op AS

For 8 years my PSA was reported by Quest Lab as <0.1 doing the standard test. My recent test, 2 weeks ago came back as 0.1 (without the less than sign < ) Not sure if they changed the method of the way they report or not ?

Will talk to my URO soon and get his opinion. Wondering if I should do Ultra sensitive test right away or wait 3 months. Would like to clear up my concern the the recent report.

Either they left the < off by mistake{happens a lot }. Or as it is a standard test, it could be anything from
0.1 to 0.19. Or {unlikely imo} the results are totally inaccurate. The only way to know sooner is have Quest lab, or another, do a 2 decimal at least ultrasenstive test. this will clear up the real or perceived discrepancy. It happened to me I did the ultra with in 2 days and when it came back the 0.1 be came 0.07. fwiw.
