Not a good week.

I hope you all had a good Christmas and are looking forward to a happy new year.

I am looking forward to the plumber showing up to unclog my main sewer line.
Christmas Eve last minute shopping was interrupted by a phone call from my wife saying, "I need you to take me to the emergency room, I've cut my finger."

Turns out she cut the tip of her finger off with one of those mandolin slicers. Three stitches later and one of the biggest bandages I've ever seen on a finger we went home. That gave me the opportunity to prove that I could cook Christmas dinner by myself as she was told not to use the had at all for several days.

She's recovering.

Last night I was doing the dishes and the sink blocked up. Thinking I needed to get my tool box to clean out the sink trap, I stopped by the bathroom and noticed the water backing up into that sink. Further checking lead me to the conclusion that the main sewer line is blocked.

The good news is that our plumber said he'd be out by 12:00 to clear the line.
and my wife's dental surgeon's office called to remind us that her implant surgery appointment is already to go and could we get there a little early this morning.

By the end of the day, I expect to have my plumbing working, my wife having stitches in her gum (in addition to the finger) plus my bank account emptied by the surgeon and finished off by a plumber.

I feel like writing a long tragic poem.

so is going back to bed and waiting for spring and option?

Sincere condolences, Andrew. What a bummer.

There really ought to be a law of nature that says that stuff like that is not permitted to happen on a major holiday.

From a literary standpoint it sounds like maybe you could work all that into some kind of Greek tragedy.

And tell your wife there are a bunch of folks on a webforum who were genuinely sorry to hear about her misfortune.

Andrew sorry for your troubles. On the other hand, when i saw the title of the thread, i got very nervous. But then i remembered you mentioned in another thread that your upcoming PSA was in May (you were asking if you should start getting nervous now LOL)

Anyway, hope your wife feels better. Happy New Year.

On a side note, you mentioned your wife was recovering, but failed to mention if if was from her cut finger, or your Christmas dinner :D

Well, you know if that is the worst week you have in the coming year, it will be a wonderful year.

Roger that! Maybe you can get it all over with before next year and have nothing but good for the next 12 months! In the meantime, that story put to poem/song would be good for drinking beer to! Sorry about your bout of crappy luck!

I was glad to read about the remaining beer money because I was about to suggest that if you don't drink this would be a good time to start. I once had a buddy who somehow managed to slam my car door shut on his own finger and cut the tip off. That was not a fun night -- especially me calling his wife from the emergency room. Here's hoping you've already used up all your bad luck for the year ahead.
