Don't take daily Viagra after RP

In a randomized clinical trial, nightly Viagra (50 mg) delayed recovery of continence. On-demand Viagra may be a better choice for erectile function recovery after RP.

I would expect this to be the opposite of its use after primary RT. Viagra improves the kinds of urinary symptoms most commonly seen after primary RT, and may be radioprotective of vascular tissue. So daily use after primary radiation may be the best strategy.

I found the EPIC questionnaire to be somewhat subjective, not sure how valid a study would be, that is based on it. But what do i know.

i was told the same thing as Sammyswife, to take it for blood flow (for me it was Cialis, i think they work differently, but the idea is the same)
At the one year visit, I told the surgeon that i had stopped taking it as i didnt really need it anymore. He told me that i should continue, just once or twice a month, for blood flow. Found it strange, not sure what once a month does, but i'm doing what he says.

I know some guys here have said its helped them with continence for me i dont think that was the case.

I filled out more than one. about half way through the 3rd one or so it dawned on me that none of them remotely resembles the other.

"In the past 2 weeks...."

Answers seemed different depending on when I took the test. That's what made me begin to question the usefulness of filling one out. "What's this really telling me?" I would ask myself. And..."Do these people realize this test is only a valid characterization of me [today ?"

I guess they have ways of taking that all into account.

island time - it is exactly those differences that the questionnaire is valuable for. Because the test has been well validated, there are minimum differences in scores for each domain (urinary, rectal and sexual) that have been found to be clinically detectable, about 6-9 points for incontinence, and about 10-12 points for sexual function. Scoring must be done with a score sheet.

halbert - strictly this applies to Viagra, but it would be hard to make the case that Cialis, Levitra, or Stendra would be much different -- they all have similar modes of action. In fact, Cialis specifically, is indicated for LUTS, which as the authors point out, is because it has exactly the opposite effect one wants if one is trying to control incontinence. The study was done because of the conventional wisdom that daily is better than on-demand. So this study challenges the previously assumed standard of care.
