Prostate pre surgery PSA 7.9 biopsy 12 needles- 3 on one side 2 the other. Gleason 8-4+3. Robotic prostectomy 9/29/15.
Surgery 12 hours, in hospital 7 days. Catheter removed 31 days after discharge. Suffered from spasm through out the 31 days. 4 1/2 months later still heavy leaking, pain in lower abdomen. Bulge in belly above belly button. For all men needing surgery go with prostectomy with incision from B to penis. Do not get robotic or seeds. My cancer was found outside the prostate in the nerve endings all removed.

Ace, welcome, so sorry for what you have gone through. I have no words of advice. Hopefully will come along who do.
What do the Drs say about your pain? Did you mean to say Gleason 7(4+3)?
Are you undetectable on PSA at this point?
You will get plenty of support here. Hopefully some useful information as well.

That's quite an ordeal you've been through - among the worst I've ever heard. You're right that transperineal surgery gets little attention - the problem is mainly finding surgeons who are expert at it.
I wish you much luck in your recovery - you deserve a break.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you find yourself here but glad you found us. Hope we can help.

12 hours is a heck of a long time in the OR and 31 days is a long time with a catheter. Has your surgeon told you what he was doing during those twelve hours or why you got so beat up by the surgery? Did they, maybe, have to remove part of your bladder? That could explain the long time with the catheter and the spasms. Have you reviewed your post-op pathology report with the surgeon yet? If so do you have a copy of it or remember what it said?

The advice we usually give is to remember you have had major surgery and to expect that it will take you a while to recover. That's always good advice but your experience sounds a bit unusual. If you tell us a bit more about yourself we might be able to make a few more suggestions.

That's a tough one, Ace. Welcome aboard though, and hopefully we can all offer you some help and comfort.

I'm a little unclear on the 'B to penis' advice. Butt to Penis I assume (RPP) or belly to penis (RRP). My uncle had the former in '97. I had the latter in '15. But as Allen said, finding docs who specialize in those are harder to come by now, especially with RPP.

Ace, you did have a worse time of it than I did and most of the other guys.

The only thing I can say in the way of encouragement is that with time things have gotten better. It's been almost a year since my robotic surgery. I leaked like a faucet for four months. I had weird pain in my abdomen for months. My inner thighs and my lower abdomen are still puffy.

At my worst I knew I had no where to go but up.

It sounds like you are at the low point. Hang in there, buddy. pc ain't for sissies.

Wow, sounds like you have been through the grinder. Sorry for troubles your have experiences.
Without additional information on your age, health and possible other comorbidities you are in the very low percentile on experiencing complications of robotic surgery. Typically robotic surgery takes 2 to 3 hours, and discharged the next day. Catheter usually is removed between 5 and 10 days depending on your urologist.

I had robotic surgery, into operating at 2:30 pm, out by 4:30 pm, released after eating a large breakfast the next morning. My urologist likes the catheter to stay in for 10 day. I won't say robotic surgery is a walk in the park, it is very complex surgery, but I can say by far recovery is faster with less complications than open surgery.

Sounds like you need to question your surgeon to see why everything took so darn long.
