I'm currently sitting on a bus, with 18 high school girls....going to play our first soccer game of the year. This is my fourth year coaching, so the seniors this year were my first group I coached .... I was diagnosed at the end of last season and one of my first thoughts was I WILL coach next year. I've had some ups and downs, and have good days and bad days still, but I'm here doing what I love and I'll be darned if I'm letting PCa take that from me...

Guess my point for all the new guys and everyone else is....no matter your dx, no matter your stage or treatment, your life will change. But never let go of the things you love and do not let PCa run your life or stop you from something you want.... Much love , thoughts and prayers to all my brothers and sisters out there with a horse in this race....may your days be bright, filled with laughs and loves....keep fighting, survive th fight and thrive in life worth the days you have.

Life throws us all kinds of curve balls and sometimes it just doesn't seem fair. I've come to the conclusion, that somehow there is a purpose for the challenges we've been presented.

I am so blessed knowing guys like you and Gunner and Todd and so many that always show the rest of us that it matters not what happens, it matters most what you do.

I've posted a few times that I loved my job (teaching at a University). An added bonus: when I teach, I am totally free of PC. I don't think about it at all, except maybe when I am perusing my computer during a test catching up on HW posts (like you are doing).

I was asked if I would like to return to teaching in the Fall. I said YES. I plan to go back 3/4 time (but only 2 days a week). That will be fun. No thinking about PC (mini vacations). Another advantage: my wife gets me out of the house 2 days a week. Seriously, we have our own interests and I think this actually helps make a good marriage!

Mel you are exactly right....when I'm coaching, be it practice or a game, that is two hours I'm not thinking of PCa. It's my release. My reset. Glad to hear you are able to go back and teach some!!

You make an excellent point. It's about more than surviving. It's about living life, and it sounds like you've got that figured out. I decided long ago that while we never know how long our tenure will be, my goal is to go as hard as I can for as long as I can. It has truly made all the difference in my life.
