I too have historically had little desire to truly exercise, as my near-300 pound frame would testify. But a couple of months ago, I purchased a used recumbent tricycle and it has totally changed my life for the better. Some days, my rib/spinal mets get so painful that I cannot walk my dog for than 1 or 2 houses down my street. Yet on those same days, I can sit on my trike and pedal away comfortably with him walking/jogging by my side for miles and miles. I am as comfortable sitting there as I am laying in bed or in my favorite La-z-boy, only its better because I am out in the sunshine and fresh air with this man's best friend who gets his exercise too. He is especially happy that we are able to go at his speed instead of mine. I ALWAYS feel great afterwards, except for the fact that we have to stop.
"Halbert" had a similar thread about swimming. You never know what kind of activity may be right for you until you try it. I had not ridden a bike in 40 years. And now, when I am pedaling away, I completely forget about cancer for an hour or two. And an unforeseen benefit is that even when I am not riding, I am able to occupy my mind with my learning about my new hobby, so even my brain is getting a good workout. I can honestly say that if you told me I could be cancer-free but the cost would be having to give up my trike, I would actually have to think about the proposition.
